GameStop is no longer accepting pre-orders for the Xbox One Day One Edition.
A spokesperson for the retailer told Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com/2013/07/15/best-buy-opens-xbox-one-day-one-pre-orders-gamestop-officially/) that “due to high demand,” the Day One Edition of the console is no longer up for reservation. PS4 pre-orders at GameStop wererecently halted (http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/gamestop-halts-ps4-pre-orders/0118278) for the same reason.
The chain offers a mailing list sign-up (http://www.gamestop.com/gs/pages/storefront/xbox-one/xboxone-first-to-know.aspx) for anyone interested in learning when more editions have been made available.
Other retailers have reported they are quickly running out of stock as well – including Amazon (http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/xbox-one-ps4-sell-out-at-amazon/0118553), who is no longer taking PS4 or Xbox One pre-orders. That said, Best Buy (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Microsoft---Xbox-One:-Day-One-Edition/9008207.p?id=1219013502536&skuId=9008207) has just reopened pre-orders for the special edition of the hardware.
