I'm a HUGE n00b to the entire homebrew thing. I just bought a new PSP yesterday. Oddly enough, it has a non tao-82 motherboard and came loaded with firmware 2.50. I'd like to get custom firmware on it. I know you guys are probably sick of dealing with this, but I need help. The only guides I can find online are how to downgrade using GTA:LCS unpatched version. Can someone walk me through the easiest way to get custom firmware on my PSP? Thank you SOOO Much in advance...

There. Readme's should help. Use google to find files, because I don't know which ones you need.

Then at 1.50, get this.

Readme and google will help you too.

Since you are a

noob

You might want to use HEN for a while and get to know your psp before flashing it.

I take not a single bit of responsibility for any mistake you make flashing your psp.

So, at this point I'd have firmware 1.5 installed. Is getting custom firmware on that simple?

Yes, and detailed instructions can be found by searching for whatever firmware you want to put on. Just know that there is always a chance you can 'brick' your psp when you flash it. I've flashed it too many times to count and have never run into one, just follow instructions.
