Im scared .. 2.6 to 3.03OE-C

Hi
I am new to this. My brother has a psp with version 3.03 OE -C on it. He can play all sorts of software (u know what i mean :))

Any way I want to get my PSp to the same version and abilities. Ive been reading on here and I have the following info

My PSP is Version 2.60
It does not have TA-082 on the RH side
It does have IC6001 on the LH side
I have a copy of GTA-LC and in my PSP "Game" menu it shows : PSP update ver 2.00

From what Ive read I MUST down grade to 1.5 then upgrade/load version 3.03 OE-C
IS THIS CORRECT ??

To downgrade I was going to use the windows version as on this site

Not sure what to do after tyhis but thought lets get to 1.5 then read up some more.

Instead of using the GTA downgrader, use the 2.80 Tiff Downgrader. It is faster and safer than the GTA version.
To update to 2.80, download the 2.80 update EBOOT.PBP and put it in X:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE/EBOOT.PBP where X is the drive your psp is on your computer. this is also called ms0:/ (ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE/EBOOT.PBP)
or the Root of the memory stick(ms0:/)

That 2.80 update firmware says a US version
I am in the UK.. Is it OK to use ?

The 2.71 suggested by SNES seems easy
Where can i get a PSP 2.71 upgrade ? I assume this is an official 2.71 upgrade then apply the 3.03 stright to it
