Gent the webmaster of the excellent <a href="http://emutastic.emulation64.com/" target="_blank" >Emutastic Site</a> has made PSP Emulation News an awesome Guide for the PSPE PSP Homebrew Emulator by the Japanese PSP Wiki Devvers, the Guide is the most indepth guide you will need for getting started with using PSP Homebrew even if you dont have a PSP, it may also be of use for those wanting to start PSP Homebrew Development, check out the <a href="http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/pspe.htm" target="_blank" >PSPE Homebrew Emulator Guide.</a>

Thanks again to Gent for his hard work.

I thought you might like this Wragg to offer a Customised PSPE Menu Background for your Members. See what one you like maybe the both? all they would need to do is download the zips from Emu Page and to backup the old and replace with what one that wanted in its place.

Okay, noobie question here. If I wanted to run a snes emulator on my psp (and I have jp firmware 1.0), I'd install pspe first, then the snes emulator and rom(s)?

In other words, is PSPE more like a boot disk for other applications?

Where do you place the files (ms0) what is the "root" file?

Where do you place the files (ms0) what is the "root" file? the guide shows you where to put the files mso/PSP/GAME/New Folder Name. The Root folder is where the pspe.exe is.

That's right it's a n00bie question, haha.

PSPE runs on your Windows PC, not on your PSP.

I know the person that posted this probably hasn't been back here in months, but in case anybody else is confused about that.... PSPE IS WINDOWS SOFTWARE THAT DOES NOT REQUIRE A PSP WHATSOEVER! It will also NOT help you run any existing software on your PSP regardless of what firmware you have!

lol.

This isn't a ROM site dude. Look on Bittorrent, this is a legitimate website that does not support (well, officially =p) or participate in ROM trading and distribution.

I do know wraggster DID post a list of legal ROM sites somewhere. I don't remember where.. you might have to search the forums for that.

Hi,

when I try the emulator on my computer it doesn't work.
The emulator start's up but I don't get a background image or software selection.
Are there other drivers or stuff needed for running it properly? (OpenGL, DirectX, ...)

Second:
When I press enter I get the following message in my stderr.txt.

load C:\pspe\ms0\PSP\GAME\SOFT1\EBOOT.PBP

I am unable to load things like the Doom and Quake games for the PSPE. Sometimes the app will launch and close instantly. If I try and use 1.5 pbp files the menu item appears but hitting ENTER does nothing.

Is there some trick in getting Doom/Quake running? I have the same problems with the Genesis emulator and MAME emulator also.

But PSPE can be used to play commercial games on PC?

EDIT: please, don't think I'm a lamer ;) I'm a Super Robot Wars fan,
and I ever buy original games of this series even if I'll play them on
an emulator. Since "Super Robot Wars MX Portable" for PSP has been realased,
I'm asking myself If I can play it even without a true PSP.
Really, I'm not interested in a PSP but only in this game series.
Please don't be angry, I don't want to offend anyone! :)

It could be possible to run .iso files... if someone would write a UMD emulator for it. PSPE emulates firmware v1.0 (and poorly at that) for those of you having trouble getting things to run, stuff that has DIRECTORY and DIRECTORY% are v1.5 apps, and therefore need to be changed back to v1.0 eboots in order to run on a v1.0 firmware. Thing is, PSPE doesn't run most of what you'll prolly try, UMD Emulator v0.8c won't for instance. I tried converting it to v1.0 (which did work) but it wouldn't run, go figure. I used PSPBrew to convert the eboots (google it if you want to try it yourself).

dbz11_2000

P.S. If the creator of PSPE is reading this... I sure hope you're working on an update..

yeah dbz11_2000 has a good point. I'm totally new to coding for PSP, but I do have a lil coding in my background. If someone would contact me and point me in the right direction as to a possible writing of a UMD emulator for this program.....I'd put some time in to help out with it.

so if I download homebrews for the 1.0 or downgrade them, they should be good to use, right? assuming I downgrade them correctly?

why r u guys talking about psp emulators in a pspe thread?

to all noobs: this isn't an emulator for the psp, it is an exe file that you can run on your pc and emulate eboot.pbp files through.

I get this same error, too:

libpng error: Not a PNG file
Fatal signal: Segmentation Fault (SDL Parachute Deployed)

Edit--------------------------
This worked once: PSPE must be a directory directly under C:, not as a sub-directory. (D: may work also?!)

2nd Edit--------------------
It worked until I put a file under SOFT1, then it died.
Removing the file let it work again. I suspect this is a version issue with the PBP file I'm using.

i am thoroughly disapointed

i do not own a PSP. that is because i dont like any of the games for it. except for one. there is one game that i think is actually worth owning. and by worth owning i mean: SWEET JESUS THIS GAMES ABSOLUTE GREATNESS CANNOT BE COMPARED TO ANYTHING ELSE IN EXISTANCE. MOTHER OF GOD I NEED TO PLAY THIS! That game is Loco Roco.

I was looking at the gameplay videos at gamespot.com when i noticed that there was a demo available. http://www.gamespot.com/psp/action/locoroco/download_ini.html?sid=6148757&id=6148757&mode=top so i downloaded it for the hell of it. Who knows - maybe one of my friends could bring their PSP over and play it.

since i just downloaded a PSP demo - i thought id try and see if i could find an emulator to run it. i was lucky enough to stumble upon this site. so i read the installation tutorial and downed the files. after following the instructions and running the pspe.exe - this appeared
http://static.filefront.com/images/personal/k/killerJ00/37984/cqxhjxazcm.jpg
the sight filled me with excitement and i gleefully pressed the Enter key. nothing happened. id say just about all the warm fuzzies within me died that molment.

Im sure the guys coding and programing the PSPE already have their own motivation for making their product more functional and support something other than homebrew files... but ...if you could just only bring me my Loco Roco... it would fill me with more joy than Gir from Invader Zim when he fires a sandwitch from his head at Dib's face...

...PS - anyone else able to get it working/know another way to do it?
