PSP Video

I used PSP9 to convert one video (XviD) and copy to memory stick but it does not even show in Video -> Memory Stick...

any idea?
I am using 3.02 OE-A

Where did you put the file?
It should still work using the directories that the copy feature of PSPvideo9 uses.
Did you have both the dropdown boxes set to either 'SP folder' or 'AVC folder' depending on what format you encoded in?

You could try manually copying the file to X:\VIDEO (X being the drive letter of your PSP).

I doubt it will be of any use, but here's (http://www.psphome.com/forum/psp-tutorials/23-tutorial-converting-video-psp-pspvideo9.html) a link to an old pspvideo9 guide i wrote. There's a few of the profiles I use there too, if your not good with that sort of thing.

I have noticed that when I use H.264/AVC codec and put in 100ANV01, it shows Unsupported Data.
But when I use MPEG-4 codec and put file in 100MNV01, it works fine.

What's that?

Well I only encode in AVC, put all the files in 100ANV01 (firmware 1.5 psp and devhook 2.71) and they play just fine for me using the same profiles i posted in the guide.

If your on 3.02OE-a you should just put all video in X:\VIDEO.

It has been that way since 2.81, you can name the files as you wish also.

I dont know why AVC video isnt showing up when its put in the correct directory unless you have renamed the file or changed its extension from what pspvideo9 produced or your profile isnt PSP compatible in some way.

could this be a codec problem?
because I have many conversion softwares installed and K-Lite Codec Pack also.
I wonder if they just mix up or create some issue.

If your using pspvideo9, your profile is set up correct, the file encodes ok and plays back with quicktime then i cant see how it's a codec issue.
If pspvideo9 is running into a problem and not transcoding the file correctly then it may be a codec issue.

Encode the file again with one of the profiles from my guide, then manually copy the file to X:\VIDEO

"Extract the zip file. This will create a directory with 2 files: 'profiles.xml' and 'Copy file for me automatically.bat'.
You can either copy the file profiles.xml to C:\Program Files\pspvideo9 and choose yes to replace the existing file, or simply double click 'Copy file for me automatically.bat' to have it copy the file for you.

The profiles are:

01 - 4:3: This is for encoding normal, close to square video.
02 - 16:9: This is for encoding widescreen video
03 - 16:9-cropped 80 either side: This is for if you encode a widescreen video, but the video pspvideo9 creates looks stretched vertically (thigs are too tall and thin)
04 - 4:3 MusicVideo: This is the same as profile 01, but with higher quality stereo audio"


If encoding with one of those (I attached the zip locally) and copying the file to X:\VIDEO doesn't work then I'm not sure what else to suggest. If it does then edit them as you wish for higher quality or lower file size etc.

Just a side note - 3.02 OE-A is very outdated. At least update to 3.03 OE-C, 3.10 OE-A, or 3.40 OE-A.

If you are sticking on 3.02 OE-A because of the autoboot, the autoboot feature is fixed in 3.40 OE-A.

Excellent, glad its working for you.
To increase quality at the cost of a bigger file, just:

Click 'setup' on the left of the pspvideo9 screen.
Click the 'profiles' tab
Choose the profile you want to change from the 'Existing quality profiles' dropdown list.
Change the 'Qscale' setting dropdown box. For all my profiles it is currently 25. Change it a little at a time, encode something short and see how the quality has changed. If you have a low quality source file then there is little to nothing you can do to increase the quality. Close to equal quality is the best you should expect.



For higher quality but a larger file, decrease the number.
For lower quality but a smaller file, increase the number


Click the 'Apply' button in the bottom right. If you dont want to change that profile, but instead create a new one based on it, just edit the 'profile name' text box before you hit apply.
