psp import queries

I'm hoping you guys and girls can help me with two queries before i buy my psp import.....

does my computer need to be able to read sony memory cards or do i transfer stuff from my computer to psp via usb cable ?

are memory cards region free ?

Its like the mp3 cable usb. You put the card in the psp if you dont have a card reader and that acts as one. And yes of course cards are region free
