1-Please give me a list of emulators that dreamcast can play smoothly?
2-Is manufacturing dates of dreamcast bars certain type of dreamcast of not playing certain emulators on it.eg like dreamcast model 1999 will play this and dreamcast model 2000 will not play that emulator.such things.OR are they all the same?

1 - A whole lot. There are lots of emulators out there for the DC, someone round here had a list running of all the full/near fullspeed ones, but i dunno where it went.

2 - Most all dreamcasts play cd-rs there are a few very late model 2000 ones that will not. Odds are though if your dreamcast will read CDs at all (lots of dreamcasts have worn out over time and can no longer read CDs at all, of any sort) it will play homebrew fine. To test, just put any music CD into your dreamcast. If it can play it, then there is a 99.99% chance it will play homebrew.

For an idea of how emulation is, pretty much every system before the genesis is emulated fullspeed-near fullspeed. Genesis is being worked on at the moment and within the next few months a fullspeed emulator should be released for it. For SNES there are two excellent emulators that run near fullspeed in most games.

We also have arcade emulators to play pretty much any game before 1990 near or at fullspeed. On top of that there is a ton of homebrew and a bunch of multimedia applications (for divx, vcd, mp3, etc)

Should be okay.

Bleem!cast offers perfect high resolution PlayStation1 emulation with VMU and RumblePack support, still available at www.lik-sang.com I hope.

Also you can play about any Lucas Arts adventure such as Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island or Sam & Max via SCUMMVM ( http://www.scummvm.org )

And then there's an ATARI ST emulator plus AMIGA emulation is beeing worked on...
ATARI ST ( http://chui.dcemu.co.uk/dcastaway.shtml )
AMIGA 500 ( http://chui.dcemu.co.uk/uae4all.shtml )

Beside that, here are some very very good emus:

GenesisPlusDC is the best Genesis / Mega Drive emu:
GenesisPlusDC PVR Preview v03 [full speed but a little sound skipping, it's a beta and still beeing worked on]
http://www.dcemu.co.uk/genplus.shtml
GenesisPlusDC v01 [less bugs but slower: set Frameskip to 2 and underclock the Z80 for full speed!]

If it will read any CD at all it will have no problem with homebrew.

also, christus, think you could put the official neodc page (www.screamcast.net) as your link instead of dcemu's?

eep. I don't know. must... contact impetus...

i guess just leave the dcemu link for now =\ since it mirrors stuff. although it would be nice if it had a link to the official download... (which is still up even though the article is on the forums).
