It seems that they have cracked how to use 3d soft ware. There are demos of 3d wireboz and a 3d psp on screen, this could be the start of something big...

there is no proof that it actually uses the 3d hardware. if it doesnt then those demos are really meaningless.

just some news, maybe they do use a 3d engine maybe not.

cant really call it cracked, also this news came from psphacker.com - which i find unreliable (as I have stated before in a thread WHICH GOT DELETED >:( ) If indeed it is real we may see some speed boosts in emulation as nexis2600 explained to me.

for reference, you have to use a '3d engine' to have anything 3d. The question is wether or not said engine actually uses the 3d hardware.

I'm just saying this does not mean that '3d has been cracked on the psp'.

i kinda see where you are comming from, but you can play 3d games on the snes emu, ie wolfenstein 3d and doom on the psp, poor though they may be but still 3d as a well as f zero

you're on the right track, but the SNES doesnt have any 3d in it either. Those games are examples of how 3d can be done through 2d.

Mode 7 is no 3d. :)

Its just a scanline scalling effect. I know because I used it on a gba racer for work.

The only Snes games that used 3d or hardware to produce 3d polygons were racer Fx, Starfox and one other game.

Depending on what programmer you talk to, some will consider wolf3d & doom 3d and some wont (to me I personaly dont on wolf since its like calling mode7 3d which is false).

oh one more thing. I hex edit the cube 3d demo. I see no bios functions used for 3d. Just some hand writen matrix & line drawing functions.
