In the face of incredible demand for the PSP (or should that be 'poor supply of the PSP') Sony is considering outsourcing the production of the PSP to China or Taiwan.

"We have to somehow increase our production capacity as we're not prepared to start selling in Europe, we've run out of units in the U.S. and it's still selling well in Japan," Ken Kutaragi, president of Sony Computer Entertainment told Bloomberg News.

"We're making the key components here, but we're looking to expand assembly of the product outside of Japan," Kutaragi said, citing said China and Taiwan are two possible countries.

Kutaragi's comments don't fill the European market with much confidence that Sony will be able to meet demand when the portable launches in September, but the plans to outsource probably won't impact on quality - Sony has not yet got rid of the image of less-than-perfect quality control from its existing factory in Chiba, east of Tokyo.

There's being some arguments in china over the value of the yuan, it may be about to be revalued which would mean the psp's from china would be even more expensive.
