Hi all

Hopefully I'll avoid a total flaming for being such a n00b and not trawling through 100s of threads searching for this info :)

Anyway, I have a DSLite and a very nice R4 card - all well and good for using various 'modern' ROMulans for gaming  however I can't seem to find much stuff for retro gaming emulation (SNES, MD SMS N64 etc, etc) can anyone help?

Are there any 'transfer straight to card' type programs? I'm somewhat technically challenged :D

And no this is NOT a request for ROMulans in anyway - got that covered to the max

cheers!

SNES - you have 2 options, SNES DS and SNEmulDS. Of these, SNEmulDS is highly recommended. Instructions for both can be found at their respective articles on http://wiki.pocketheaven.com - for SNES DS, follow the "quickstart slot-1" instructions and/or the video tutorials I made, and for SNEmulDS just follow the instructions on the page. For patching with DLDI, using the "DLDIrc" tool is recommended for its ease of use. Just install it and then right-click the .nds file to select the new patching option.

With SNES DS, you'll have to package the game into the .nds file, whereas SNEmulDS reads .smc files straight off your media card.

Megadrive/Genesis - only option is PicoDriveDS, which you can find via Google. Patch it with DLDI and then place your *.bin files anywhere on the card. Note that this emulator is rather slow, has a forced frameskip, and has no sound. It does however have several screen scaling options and the ability to have one savestate per game.

SMS - I think the best one is DSMasterPlus. I've heard the SMS emulators for the GBA are more refined, but you can't run them on an R4.

N64 - will never happen on a DS, sorry. The DS is way too underpowered to emulate something like that.

GB/GBC - search for Lameboy, which is up to version 0.6 at this moment. It has no sound, and doesn't limit the frames so some games will run faster than usual, but it's a good start. I'd recommend downloading a few versions so that you can use an earlier, slower version if the latest one runs your game too fast. Again, Goomba Color for the GBA is much more polished, but Lameboy is your only option on the R4.

Any good NES emulators that work with a Supercard Ds One? I have the SNES emulator working but would really love a NES emulator that works with supercard ds one.

Follow the "R4 and other slot-1" instructions on http://wiki.pocketheaven.com/NES_DS

Here is the R4 Home Brew Database, the perfect thing for a newb like me.

You need DSOrganise for this, if you dont have it, here is a pre-patched version I found.

http://www.un00b.net/hbdb/DSOrganize%202.7final%20R4.zip

now download the following file, and put it anywhere on your SD card.

http://www.un00b.net/hbdb/r4.hbdb <----You will need to right click and do "Save target as" to download this.

Back on your DS, Launch DSOrganise, open the file browser, and find your "r4.hbdb" file. Open That.

Now DSOrganise should show a list of programs. (allready patched for the R4 btw)

now simply find NesDS or any other program you want and the DS will download it off of wifi straight into the root directory of your card.

By the way, NesDS comes in three packages if you download if from there.

the only good games that comes with package 1 is excitebike and mega man

package 2 comes with pac man

package 3 comes with Super Mario Brothers 1-3
