I'm looking more forward for the PS3 eye

Yes indeed, my phone has a better camera than that psp one, and i carry my phone all the time, so this would be a waste for me.

PS3 eye is going to rock.

$60 but they won't ship to the US.
I get this error when trying:

*** We're sorry. This item can't be shipped to your selected destination. You may either change the shipping address or delete the item from your order by changing its quantity to 0 and clicking the update button below. ( See geographical restrictions.) ***

But you can get it shipped to the US (ebay) for $72 (this includes shipping). Search for psp go!cam on ebay.

Got it from playasia about a month ago. Cost me 50$ plus 10$ for delivery from Hong Kong to Moscow. Works perfect. Photos are bad, but video is REALLY nice - amazing quality, full screen and 30 FPS. They're much better than any phone cam can record. Plus you can edit videos with bundled software, but it is in japan language.

Once someone buys this, i want a rip of the english version of the umd. I want to see if it will compress less than the 80mb the english eboot takes up.

I just picked this camera up today. While I agree with the arguments "Why use this when I have my camera phone" I would agree up until we debate video quality. IT must be the format used, but the video quality is superb & far better then any camera phone & most digital cameras, There are no block's at all in the video i have captured!

Video quality is superb, I am looking forward to a relaese of skype in the future:thumbup:

Um the only reason I could see this being usefull is for youtube , it's megapixel count is kinda futile compared to the latest mobile phones even however for it's price it is pretty good.

I have seen this in use and only see this effective and/or useful if you don't carry a digital camera or phone with an added camera in it. If you have neither and still somehow also own a PSP (lol) this is good. For the price however, as well as the quality and availability already of even better cameras on phones, it is unpractical.

It must be, except the software bundled.

For people who bought Chotto Chot, you can download the English GoEdit software from Sony.

Just got my Go!Cam today - Amazon managed to lose the one I originally ordered......

Bit annoyed at the Go!Edit website - in order to get the software they wanted to know WAY too much information as you can only download it if registered.

So I found another copy out there on the web.

Why is it that companies want to know EVERYTHING about you before they will give you what you have paid for, which is how I see the Go!Edit software.

Well Rant over going to go see what the Edit software will do - have a 20 min clip of me riding my motorbike to work to play with (using a Car windscreen sucker mount turned upside down and stuck to my fuel tank)

Well i have about 4 months with my PSP camera an it's GREAT the 1.3mp Camera for me its decent XD but the best is the video recording, records like DVD Quality but it takes around 800mb 20 mins :( and the Chotto Shot UMD comes in japanesse but i have the English1 d/l form.... somewhere :D and its work great but eh... in camera mode it only asept 640x480 and in video mode only records around 20 seconds and with 320x280 res. and no maters how many free space u have in ur Memory Stick, and well good things? yeah it have a lots of visual efects to add on video, but i prefer the classic camera mode.

Umm, I'm new here, but I have IMPORTANT NEWS! there is a new psp, just released, what does this mean for homebrew!?!?! will it be able to be downgraded? will it have some sort of build it block to prevent hombrew no matter the firmware version? Is the new psp worth getting?? decide for yourself! (http://www.gamespot.com/features/6173974/index.html?tag=topslot;title;1) this link may cease to work when gamespot next updates its cetral tab frameset, so just search gamespot for E3 info. or, go here (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3161034) I would really like to post this as a thread, but it won't let me; I suppose because I am a new member. I've used this ssite for years I'm glad to finally be a member. I think I'm the first to post about this new PSP and what it means for the homebrew community; I believe that the new PSP will be homebrew compatible and that it will provide a fantastic boost to the PSP-homebrew and PSP-mod communities. Power to the people enjoy! ~~~(extended information)(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_Portable) (something fun)(http://www.amazon.com/Horatio-Hornblower-Collectors-Ioan-Gruffudd/dp/B000AYEIW2/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/105-0780911-7893268?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1184568971&sr=8-1) -SISKO have fun wid-it!

urherenow
August 29th, 2007, 08:27
actually, the picture can zoom a little bit, but then doesn't turn out very pretty. To get the best quality (as possible) out of this thing you need to use it in pretty bright areas. In the dark or even average indoor light will get you grainy photos

blackrave
August 29th, 2007, 16:27
People talk about the quality of pictures, and that they get grainy in dark areas. But could anyone please upload or show us some examples of this, and some examples generally? It's hard to find on the Internet. Thanks.

http://flickr.com/photos/alexatkinuk/sets/72157601781779058/

Theres a few others on flickr too, its where I checked before buying the camera.

Heres some videos:

Aiming the camera at my 32" Samsung HDTV:
http://csdprojects.co.uk/Go!Cam/360%20no%20audio.avi
http://csdprojects.co.uk/Go!Cam/3geometry%20wars%20hdtv.avi
Macro mode:
http://csdprojects.co.uk/Go!Cam/3macro%20mode%20no%20audio.avi
Short video of one of the rabbits:
http://csdprojects.co.uk/Go!Cam/3ripleydig.avi

Not all these results are automatic settings, Geometry Wars I set manual white balancing and dropped the exposure a little to try to get as close to the right colours as possible. So there is a little leeway for tweaking.

Thank you very much, all those samples are highly appreciated. Of the photos, I especially like the one of the Tigger cup. The videos have better quality than I imagined, and Ripley is cute.

To open the three last video links, remove the 3 in front of the final file name in the URL. This camera definitely seems to be worth getting, especially now that Sony has announced they will allow it to be used for videochatting, and hopefully, developers will take it in use for games and such in the future. :)

A brief overview of this thread:

PSP Camera

Importable from Japan
Downloadable English software (GoEdit)
1.3 Megapixel camera (not the best)
Slight zoom (low quality)
AWESOME video (samples linked above)
Might be used via Sony software (videochat)
~7500en = ~$60

My views are thus: No one in their right mind would buy this to be their main digital camera, so those people saying that this is completely useless and a waste of money because of the lower end photos, are just plain insane, as are those who want to use this in PSP games (those style games are always so lame). However, with the quality of the video produced by this and the outrageous prices of decent video camera's, this could work out as the next best thing. ~$60 is nothing to spend on an easy attachment to an awesome gaming/homebrew rig that could (hopefully) be a target for homebrewers to create some awesome video phone/chat brew. Not to mention that for all those baka videobloggers, this is just perfect. I would like to see them port or clone Trillian Pro to the PSP with the video support... that would be quite excellent.

BTW: for all those asking about the GPS.. Awesome and worth every Japanese Yen and every hour I spent setting up Densika's brew, yeah it will take a while. The link to the software is posted above. And there was a thread specifically for that I believe so just do a search for PSP GPS for details. I don't know if it works with the latest custom firmware though, I have yet to try it with any of the m33 cfw (I mailed the unit to the States a couple months ago) and haven't kept up at Densika's site (but I'm sure he's still keeping up with it).

Oh and for some more Go!Cam functionality... here is the info about the Go!Messenger (MSN messenger on the PSP)
http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/22/sony-extends-psp-capabilites-with-go-messenger-and-go-explore/

or the internal camera mod on acidmods.com.. I think they put a thread about it here on dcemu, but here's a direct link.
http://www.acidmods.com/forum/index.php?topic=10480.0

Though I still think that a Trillian Pro with video support would be outstanding... Trillian and Pidgin(Gaim) support every IM protocol you could think of (including IRC)... probably hard as hell to code to the PSP though.
