Ok so I recently was given a PSP entertainment pack which included the PSP with a i gig memory, a movie and a game. The Firmware version is 2.71 with an motherboard of TA-082. I want to mod it but I dont know where to begin or what progams will work without bricking my psp. Could someone give me some advice?

Also I was wondering if Dark Alex's Homebrew enabler for 2.71 work for me.

Thanks

Well, you'll need the hen to downgrade it!
http://downgrader.lan.st/ta082down.rar

You'll need hen:
http://exophase.com/files/psp/hend.rar

Then 3.40 OE-A!
http://exophase.com/files/psp/340_oea.rar

That should do it. This dg is just as safe as updating with sony's official fw.

so i go downgrade first, then hen and then 3.40 OE-A, correct? Will I still be able to run new games?

No, you use hen to run the downgrader, then install 3.40 OE-A. Yes.

use this downgrader. its easier.

and i dont think you need hen d.

just use the full version of the above downgrader then up to 3.40 OE.

There are instructions in the readme.

readme of what? the only read me file i found was in the dev hook folder and it tells me to Simply copy the folder dh to your root, overwriting the files.

Where is this magical root?

ICE
May 29th, 2007, 07:04
the root is just the first thing you see when you access you psp via usb. you know where you see the PSP, dh, and mp_root folders?

thats the root.

all i see in the removable disk folder is three files: MEMSTICK.IND, MSTK_PRO.IND, and the PSP fold. Obviously Im missing something here.

ICE

first off you shouldnt be able to see the MEMSTICK.IND, MSTK_PRO.IND so just ignore them. that is, however, your root.

so basicly the folder that those items are in is the root folder? And follow the instructions that i posted above?

ICE

Hi Guys, I'm a complete noob, I've downgraded about 4 psp's so far successfully, but my daughter has a TA-082 motherboard in hers, and to make matters worse upgraded to 2.81 before I could tell her not to. Do the 3 pieces of software posted in this thrread work for 2.81 on a TA-082, as I read the instructions and it says 2.71, but thought it might work.

No, they don't. You'll need to upgrade to 3.03 and use the GTA downgrader (http://www.noobz.eu/joomla/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=88888895&func=fileinfo&id=12). You'll need an unpatched copy of GTA:LCS to do it, though.

Hi Guys I am fairly new at the homebrew scene, i was able to succesfully upgrade my 2.71 psp to 3.03 and then dowgrade back down to 1.50 and then up again to Dark Alex's 3.03 OE-C just by reading the readmes. However, many questions about all the homebrew and what is compatible still plagues me and the amount of information that i get when i google is just totally overwhelming and i often find myself trailing off into other homebrew subjects other than the ones im really looking for. So i was wondering if you guys could help me with a couple of questions that are just bothering me.
The first one is:
Why should i upgrade my 3.03 OE-C to 3.40 OE-A, what is the clearcut advantage?
I've heard Vague descriptions about certain disadvantages that you get when you upgrade to 3.40 OE-A.
ie: flashing, snes emulator compatibilty etc.
Please help me with whatever you can.
THanks

I always update to the latest OE, just for more features, pops and game compatibility.
