Hello, I have bought an R4DS, for some reason i thought R4 can run GBA commercial back ups too, but sadly it doesn't, so now I'm thinking about buying a SuperCard Lite, but this thing needs "PassCard 3" with it as far as i know, So can I use the R4 as a replacement for buying PassCard 3? is it possible? I just want to run commercial GBA games back-ups(roms)

Thanks in advance leet people :D

True, but we can answer generically, which may help.

Slot-2 devices do not need passthrough devices in order to boot into GBA mode and launch GBA homebrew binaries. However, if you wish to launch a slot-2 device in DS mode, you need a passthrough device. The R4 has a built-in function that will serve as a passthrough device for a slot-2 device like the Supercard Lite.

Thanks for replying.. :) so even normal GBA homebrew requires a passthrough device? I mean if i want to run any homebrew programmed for GBA and wish to run it in NDS, i'll need a passthrough?

No, you do not need a passthrough device to run the flash cart in GBA mode. You only need one if you wish to run the slot-2 device in DS mode on a DS.

Damn, you beat me to the punch. Just for future reference, you can't discuss roms in specific, but things like what products you need to have to load gba files and such are.

So you don't need anything else other than R4?
Still confused.
Do I have to buy a GBA flash cart and let that work with R4 to be able to use GBA files?
