I've got a friend who updated his PSP with official firmware. It's 3.30, so it's not possible for him to flash the firmware with something more homebrew-friendly.

Is there any way for him to run his own PSOne games on his PSP despite this? When the Popstation crack was first made available, I had to download Hot Shots Golf 2, then use the EBOOT.PBP and KEYS.BIN files to transfer my own games to the PSP.

Since PSPs running official firmware revisions can run the Hot Shots Golf 2 files, does that mean any PSOne games created using these files will run on any PSP? What programs can my friend use to put his PSOne games on his PSP?

Hot Shots Golf wouldn't work on official firmwares since you need to buy them from the Playstation Store from the PS3.

You'd need OE firmwares to run PSX images.

There's rumors of the psn coming to psp, but it won't be anytime soon, and I couldn't imagine downloading 400+ MB files off the web directly to your psp.
