Just finished my upgrade from 1.52 - 1.50 - 3.40 OE. When I go to the recovery menu, and set the CONFIGURATION -> GAME FOLDER HOMEBREW to "1.50 kernel" then back/exit my way out properly, I go to system settings on the regular menu after restart and it still shows I have 3.40 OE-A. Is this correct or have I done something wrong?

TIA! :D

This is standard, when you set it to the 1.5 kernel it is using that to run homebrew... the system software will always say 3.40 OE no matter the settings you choose

Ah, k. But when running a newer UMD game that requires 3.4, do you have to set that option in the recovery menu to 3.4 from 1.5?

Well, I just tried installing fastloader v7 via USB per the directions in the README. It says CORRUPTED DATA instead of giving me options to run under the GAME setting. . . :(

Why would we use the kernel mode switch??

I have no idea what the use for this is.

Mine is currently on 3.40

Will certain homebrew only run with 1.50 or 3.40 kernel mode?

texasmame, try putting fastloader in your 1.50 folder rather than game.

3.40 OE-A includes subsets of both the 3.40 firmware and the 1.5 firmware.

The "Game folder kernel version" option in recovery sets whether your homebrew in PSP/GAME executes under the 3.40 kernel or the 1.5 kernel.

If it's set to 3.40 then:

Homebrew stored in PSP/GAME will run under 3.40. You need to create a folder GAME150 to run any homebrew you want executed under the 1.5 kernel.

If it's set to 1.50 the opposite is true, and you need to create a folder GAME340 for the homebrew you want executed under the 3.40 kernel.

Yep! Some homebrews (Like basilisk and super mini mario.) Read from ms0:/PSP/GAME/SMM/DATA/file.jpg, instead of from DATA/file.jpg like most homebrews do. You can either solve this by putting 2 copies of it in either folder, or setting the game folder homebrew to 1.50.
