My Chineese PSP has a built in Recovery Mode (simular to the above minus the battery) which can be flashed to any firmware (thou I don't know how to use it), watch and see how easy I access it...

...Just don't complain about the video quality as I recorded it with my phone :(

My Japanese PSP doesn't have Recovery Mode (I've tried accessing it but it's not even there), I don't think my Chinese PSP had Recovery Mode until I bought a new Motherboard from China (after the otherone bricked) which seems to be better than the original one I had.

Custom Firware's have recover mode too,i have used it quite alot lol :D

I've never really used custom firmware (I should thou), except for running DevHook to run GTA:LCS which I had to wait ages until I unpackaged the game from it's wrapper as it took me a few weeks to figure 3.01 to DevHook which is still my current loadable firmware (apart from one PSP being 1.50 and the other 2.00)
