Okay, here are a couple of questions from a homebrew newb who basically has no idea.

The first thing I want to ask is this: What language is normally used to program homebrew?
There, nice easy question for you.

Next thing is more speculation than anything:

We know that the Wii and the GC have the ability to play DVDs. Well, they can play burned DVDr's anyway. This means that the Wii can read DVDs, correct?

So can it really be that hard to write a piece of software that will access the content on the disk and play it? Not trying to be rude, just a simple question. :)

NO to the ability of DVDR's, the only way possible is through a mod chip and NO again because the only use for DVDR's on the Wii at this very moment of time is illegal as there is no homebrew, and before you ask the next question the answer is NO!
