I was wondering if there were any applications for PSP homebrew that lets you scroll through a series of individual cards and turn them over or flash cards. I'd like to put my PSP to use for language study (memorizing words) or learning terms.

I googled http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/chineseflashcards.shtml this, but it is for Chinese words. I want to be able to customize or edit words.

I'm open to software recommendations or if you have a different way of executing this kind of idea. I've thought of saving a bunch of .jpg files with words, but it gets cumbersome and time consuming to open up photoshop, type, and save.

This sounds like a program that should be written in a simple language - like lua. Unfortunately you will probably have to write it yourself.

An alternative is to make a pdf, html or txt file and use bookr (a homebrew ebook reader included in the latest irshell (i think)) to read them.

this should get u started.
get a luaplayer installed ,
rename words.txt to index.lua in new folder and run
from your Lua launcher.

U can edit most of the settings & the word table , as req.

*EDIT: I'd be happy to help make this suit your needs if it aint
quite right (eg. screenshots > .jpg ?) *
