The Half-Life 3 trademark reportedly filed last week has now disappeared.
The trademark application, filed with the European Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market, appeared late last week (http://www.pcr-online.biz/news/read/half-life-3-trademark-filed-by-valve/032062), but raised some sceptical eyebrows due to an absence of a similar filing with the US Patents and Trademarks Office.
Now the filing has vanished, suggesting that the news had been a hoax.
Many gamers had hoped to see some news about the long-anticipated sequel as part of Valve’s three-tiered announcement campaign, which instead turned out to be the reveal of SteamOS (http://www.pcr-online.biz/news/read/valve-to-launch-linux-based-steamos/031977),Steam Machines (http://www.pcr-online.biz/news/read/valve-announces-steam-machine-pc-console-hybrid/032010) and the Steam Controller.
For now, at least, they will have to keep on waiting.
