ROMS not working?

I have an EZ-Flash II one gigabyte cart with some GBA and PocketNES roms on. But very few GBA roms seem to work. Most of them just makes the screen turn white/black and then nothing happens. Why is this?

I'm using EZ Client 3.25
Driver version 1.5400
PatchDLL version 1.220

does that device require patching for them to work? I know the supercard slot 2 does.
