Ok, just got myself a brand new PSP, a white one. It has, like the title says fw 2.60. Checking the top right corner in the UMD place I see nothing, it's completely blank. The left side has nothing either, only 1009IC BEHIND the green area.

So, what should I use to downgrade to 1.5 and then up to 3.40 oe a?

I read in a thread that if it's a virgin 2.60 and hasn't been updated to 2.60 from a low version, it will result in a brick if I use the 2.60-1.5 downgrader I saw somewhere.

I don't trust myself, even though I think I need to upgrade to 2.71 first, then use a Easy 2.71 Downgrader.... the downgraders I find might be evil files.

I really want someone experienced here to give me links to the files I need. PLEASE!.... pretty please.... with suggar on top..... and I'll throw in my girlfriend too!.

So please guys, show me the way :)

Thanks!

Use the 2.80 N00bZ downgrader (http://www.noobz.eu/joomla/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,88888895/func,fileinfo/id,8/) since it's safer and it has TA-082 support too.

I have read that if I downgrade with a downgrader made for TA-082 on a PSP that is not TA-082 (like mine, I think), I can get a brick... so should I really use the one in your link?

Cuz I have downloaded 2_71_US_firmware_update.rar
was gonna install it.. and then use Downgrader.271FULL.exe

When I'm on 1.5, is it necessary to update to 2.0, then to 1.5 again then to the firmware I want?.. cuz I read that if I don't go to 2.0 first, my psp might brick as it misses files or something like that.

Want a quick reply please before I continue.

NoobZ's downgrader checks what motherboard version you have and downgrades in the appropriate manner. Since it supports ALL motherboards from TA-79 to TA-086, so don't worry. I also used it several times before without a brick.

Ok, so I don't have to update to 2.71 first or anything?

Says in the readme it's intended for 2.80.... so, official sony 2.80fw first, no?

-Xandu-
August 2nd, 2007, 13:43
Yes, you have to upgrade to 2.80 first.

IronX
August 2nd, 2007, 13:45
Ok, the file in your link came without those big stuff thingies... so downloading 1.5 official fw now.... and 2.80 official fw......

IronX
August 2nd, 2007, 13:49
Got only 30kb/DL speed.. so takes some time...

Just currious.... would something bad happen if I use the US version of the fw 2.80 instead of the EU version when I have an EU PSP? (which I think I have).

IronX

Updating to 2.80, here goes.... *worried*....

-Xandu-
August 2nd, 2007, 14:06
No, what are you trying to do? Downgrade or upgrade to 2.80?

IronX
August 2nd, 2007, 14:07
Maybe I have to go to 2.71 first before I can execute the 2.80 update?

What I'm trying to do is to update to fw 2.80 with 2_80_EU_firmware_update.zip.. but it's corruped it says..

I unzip it to unit :psp/game/update/eboot.pbp and tried update.pbp too.... all I get is the file is corrupted in the menu.

And I right now have 2.60... the fw I got with the psp.

What are you trying to do, first you need the official Sony upgrade, is that what you're doing.

Am I not making myself clear?.. :)

I have bought a PSP with fw 2.60... I downloaded official 2.80 to update to 2.80 so I can use the ta82downgrader.zip.... but after I have unzipped the 2.80 (eboot.pbp) to psp/game/update, all I get in the psp menu under games is corrupted data.... isn't it there I should place it?... I read somewhere on the internet that it should be there.

The 2.80 eboot.pbp I downloaded is 20.549.157 bytes.

Downloaded it here: http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/665

Am I doing something completely retarder here? :D.... I need to update to 2.80 first as I now only have 2.60.... What am I doing wrong then?

cal360
August 2nd, 2007, 14:22
The 2.80 update goes in a folder called UPDATE with in the PSP folder, are you putting it in the UPDATE folder.

IronX
August 2nd, 2007, 14:26
Yup, tried that also, nothing to start in my game menu now....

cal360
August 2nd, 2007, 14:28
What files have have you got, give me the names of them.

IronX
August 2nd, 2007, 14:30
PRobably something wrong with this updater... will see if I can find another one.

What files have have you got, give me the names of them.

in the root of the psp there is

Mp_root
Psp

In the PSP folder there is:
Common
Game
Music
Photo
Savedata
System
Update

In the update folder I placed the Eboot.pbp.

And I get "There are no games" in the game section of the PSP. I have also tried renaming it to Update.pbp.

If you tell me the names of the files and what you're doing with them I can tell you what's wrong, if something is wrong.

No, you have to put it in PSP/GAME/UPDATE/EBOOT.PBP.

Try re-downloading the 2.80 update, it may have corrupted during the download.

Or, will redownload it... as I've tried the above. But it came as a zip, and there were no problem unzipping it, which means it should be 100% complete.. but ok.. will re-download it.

IronX
August 2nd, 2007, 14:43
Yay!, worked this time..... must have gotten broken when downloading it before... I now have 2.80... k.. will try the ta82downgrader now.

Ok, I seem to need that HEN thingy.

That's what I was meaning you've probably misinterpretted what I said.

I must of thought it but not typed it. I tend to do that :(

IronX

Yeah, like I've read everywhere and in the readme, the tiff thingy is very unstable and it freezes and shuts down the psp everytime... I'm still trying....

-Xandu-
August 2nd, 2007, 14:58
It should do that, check if your firmware version is 2.80 HEN now, if so, then you've patched your firmware.

Chameleon
August 2nd, 2007, 14:59
if it keeps not working, re- drag and drop the tiff exploit on the memory card, then try it again... it always helped me

IronX
August 2nd, 2007, 15:04
Finally got a blue screen... checked version, it was 2.80 HEN.... then looked at the cube demo :).... then added a copy of fw 1.5 in the correct place... now running PSP Update ver X.YZ........

-Xandu-
August 2nd, 2007, 15:07
Good luck ;). Make sure you have all the files in their correct places before starting.

IronX
August 2nd, 2007, 15:07
1.5!! :D..... now to update....

uhm.. should I go to 2.0>1.5>...?...

I want to get to 3.40 oe a... as that version seems the best at the moment.. even if there is that.. uhm... M33 one (I have read their fw is unstable and stuff)...

Chameleon
August 2nd, 2007, 15:13
I recommend updating to m33, its not as unstable as people make it out to be... they have fixed all the problems for the most part with firmware updates

IronX
August 2nd, 2007, 15:16
Ok, Chameleon, I'll use their fw just because you recommend it :)... what updates do I need on my way there?... it's always like >x.xx>x.xx>x.xx>m33

Isn't there just one or two I could use ?... like 1.5>2.71>m33?

Guide me once again experienced ones! :D.

-Xandu-
August 2nd, 2007, 15:16
You don't have to upgrade to 2.0, no.

You can upgrade to either 3.40 OE or an M33 firmware directly, I never tried M33 before though.

Chameleon
August 2nd, 2007, 15:23
you go stait to 3.52m33 and thats all

so youll need the 1.5 update and the 3.52 firmware update

name the 1.50 firmware 150.pbp
and the 3.52 update 352.pbp and put them in this
http://dl.qj.net/CFW-3.52-M33-PSP-Homebrew-Applications/pg/12/fid/14167/catid/151

IronX
August 2nd, 2007, 15:26
Hmm.... not tried M33 directly before?.. hmm.. or directly from 1.5... hmm.. I think I better go with 3.40 OE first then..... .. and then maybe to M33... sometime.... I don't play psp games much anyway... so don't need the 3.5x.

@Chameleon.
Yeah, I read that I could go straight from 1.5 to 3.52m33 on psp hacks.. but still.. hmm... it still has full insternet support?. And I can downgrade anytime from m33, right?.. incase something wouldn't work that I need... like I have that PSP go camera... incase it doesn't work fully.

Chameleon
August 2nd, 2007, 15:32
yes it has everything that 3.40OE has + more

Id still go with m33 the install process is much more simplistic...

I was hesitant at first to do it, I did it, and I love all the extra features it has, and I dont even play PSX games or PSP isos

IronX
August 2nd, 2007, 15:36
There's a 3.52 m33-2 update.... could I go directly with this one or do I have to install m33 first, then update?. As the update are bigger than the 3.52 m33, I guess I can... but donno.

Chameleon
August 2nd, 2007, 15:40
install 3.52m33-1 first and then install m33-2, its the only way to do it.

Think of m33-2 as an add on to the original

ExcruciationX
August 2nd, 2007, 15:43
3.52 M33-2 is a small update that flashes a few files.

3.52 M33-1 is the full blown update (f0 formating, etc). Run this one first.

IronX
August 2nd, 2007, 15:57
All set up... now running kxploitpatcher...

now 3.52 M33 CREATOR...

Chameleon
August 2nd, 2007, 15:59
after the creator is done it will generate another program, called 3.52 M33 Installer that is what will update you to the actual custom firmware

IronX
August 2nd, 2007, 16:03
Whoah... writing 3.52 fw seems to take forever :).

IronX
August 2nd, 2007, 16:10
Done... took like 10 mins or so to write the 3.52 fw... now for the 3.52 M33UPDATE.

*drumroll*

IronX

DONE!

Funny message after it was done with the updating:

"Setting the date when the daylight shined in the sky of the night. March 33, 2007; 3:33:33 am... nah, changing back the date later is a bit annoying."

:P.

Just the update left.

Thanks guys for the awesome help!!!

that message was also in the 3.51 update, except it really did change the date and time to 33rd March (2nd April), 3:33:33.

Congratz on successfully downgrading, etc, etc.
