In order to put themes you have to flash them to your PSP's NAND Flash (Flash0).

To do that:
1.Hold R trigger while booting to enter recovery mode.
2.Enter Advanced, toggle USB Flash0.
3.Download themes from EvolveXMB (http://evolvexmb.com/).
4.Copy the desired files to vsh folder in Flash0.
5.Enjoy XMB themes ;).

Not flashing the PSP's NAND is an option.
If you don't do it right you can run into serious problems.

You can use CXMB (http://www.2alien.info/2007/06/cxmb.html) and enjoy them risk free until you are comfortable with what you have.

Get some great themes at evolves (http://evolvexmb.com/Main/modules/wordpress/) site as well as Endless Paradigm (http://endlessparadigm.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=458)

Well to do CXMB you have to flash too.
But yeah, it's safer than flashing every time you want to install a theme.

I haven't ever used it as a flash, only as a standard plug-in, does it work better?

why.. cause its beter saving it on the flash than on the memstcik, another thing you can get more space using flash agent for such themes from evlvexmb

Simply "cause its beter" isn't very convincing to me.

But I will try it out.

Thank you for offering and i might need it down the road.

I have been looking at this for awhile now
So I knew what I had to do running 3.52
Since the pspbtcnf.txt file is no longer a text file and now a .bin I had to grab a copy of ZiNgA BuRgA's PSPBT Editor (http://endlessparadigm.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=2938&page=4).

I am not sure by reading the thread if I will run into any problems or not... here is the thread pspbtconf for 3.51M33 (http://endlessparadigm.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=2938&page=1)

Ok... Update... I am going back to using it as a plug-in.
The reason why is that the PSP dumps all the themes and plug-ins 100% of the time when exiting an ISO.
It would only loose the theme occasionally when it was a plug-in.
It was kind of a nice bug when using the random topmenu prx plug-in.
But since it dumps plug-ins now as well as the theme its very annoying.

Do you know of a better place to add the line /kd/cxmb.prx in the pspbtcnf.bin that will prevent the problem I had?

Or do you know of another solution?

i tried that
everything copied/moved fine
but then i couldnt load my PSP up again
had to recover it
again
i tried the same thing with 2 themes
neither one worked
is it because i run 3.52 m33
i dont think cause i downloaded from evolve
and the link said 3.5x m33
