and ive decided to get a laptop. i wanna get a laptop mainly for gaming, and im not exactly what youd call tech savy. so can anyone give suggestions? please :D

my budget is 1200USD(50,000) pesos or less.

games id like to play: at least battlefield on minimal settings.
doom 3
etc....

if not.. warcraft and counterstrike and such would be okay.

so can anyone give me suggestions on what laptop model i should get(and the brand)

If you want a decent gaming laptop at around $1,200, then I'll prolly go with a Hewlett Packard dv6567cl Notebook.

1.80 GHz Intel® Centrino® Duo processor technology featuring Intel® Core ™ 2 Duo processor T7100
2 MB L2 Cache
2048 MB 667MHz DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
2048 MB max supported
NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
Up to 895 MB total graphics memory (128 MB dedicated)
200 GB (4200RPM) Hard Drive (SATA)
LightScribe Super Multi 8X DVD±R/RW with Double Layer Support
15.4" WXGA High-Definition BrightView Widescreen (1280 x 800) Display
High speed 56k modem
Integrated 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN (RJ-45 connector)
Intel® PRO/Wireless 4965AGN Network Connection
HP Imprint finish, HP Pavilion Webcam & Mic, & Fingerprint reader
Altec Lansing
101-key compatible & 2 Quick Launch Buttons-HP Quick Play Menu and DVD
Touch Pad with On/Off button and dedicated vertical scroll Up/Down pad
1 ExpressCard/54 Slot (also supports ExpressCard/34)

I got mine for $1,149.63 on tax free day, but would most likely end up a little over $1,200. The first laptop VampDude posted looks like a better deal though.

I don't think that's a better deal. At that price on the site, it comes by default with the lowest specs. If you customize it to something similar to the HP dv6567cl notebook (the processor is at 1.66GHz while the HP laptop is at 1.80GHz, upgrade to 2GB DDR2 RAM, upgrade to a 200GB HD, upgrade to Windows Vista Home Premium, and upgrade to a Dual Layer CD-RW/DVD-RW Burner w/LightScribe Technology), you'll end up at $1,574.00, over $400 more. I'm not necessarily saying the HP notebook is the best, since there could be better deals out there, but that AlienWare notebook isn't a better deal in my opinion.
