YKB posted this article (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=70593&highlight=motion+sensor) only a few days ago. It seems the device has been officially announced.

This appears to be some sort of new device that senses which way you move the DS just like an optical mouse. It also seems to act as a "rumble pack" as seen in the demonstration video (http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/aguj/controller/index.html). Since I can't read Japanese I am unable to share anymore information. I wonder how Nintendo will implement this new device... and how our homebrew community will use it too. ;)

Well this video doesn't mean anything, about how good it will work, since this video is just made using different layers in a film sequenzer.
It just means that they're working on it, so I wouldn't question yet how you can use it for homebrew etc.

This has been announced weeks ago, it is a slide controller, it works exactly like an optical mouse, and it acts a bit like a play stand at the same time.
It will be bundled with a game called "Slide Adventure - Mag Kid" or something like that.

First I heard of it, sorta, hmm, sounds useful, but makes me wonder if this just makes it more gimmicky.

I'd rather use a dsmotion card/pak (http://ndsmotion.com/)

Now that IS impressive. Quite cheap too.

As for Nintendo's doohickey, not sure I can see the point in it but it's interesting to see the hands holding the DS appear to be those of a westerner rather than a Japanese person.
