hello

So this is the 1st official thread about RIVALGANG my 2nd homebrew game for the psp.

so here some screenshot... ok althrough the game seem quite advance on thoses screenshot...U have to know than the game is really early in devellopment and than those screenshot have been photoshoped to add the HUD, special FX and stuff...
but nothing than the psp cannot do realtime...
every model is really low poly, and the textures are 16color 128x128...

as for the gameplay it s some kind of finalfight, fighting force in 3d. the camera system will be close to defjam icon. and u will select your fighting area on a map a little like moonstone on amiga...
nothing have been decided on story yet...
overall the game design is still very open...and i ve been focusing a lot on the graphics...

for now i ve got:
-a team of develloper<we are 3 > :)
-a 3d engine coded by the nogravity coder
-1 test level
-2 main characters <with 3 set of cloth for each>
-about 15 villains <bunch of punk/skinhead>
-4 bosses
-weapon <katana, hammer, gun, etc..>

todo
-finish animation set for the characters<this is a big job...>
-more level
-1 extra playable characters
-code the gameplay
-make frontend graphic
-more gangs

we plane start the prod on this game around october...your comment and ideas are welcome...

if u have any title ideas too!!!cause rival gang seem a little poo to me.:)

althrough I can do animation myself...if your a talended max animator and you wish to be involve...PM me...

thank you.
:o

Dear god... Are you sure you're not just posting screenshots of a commercial game being made by EA or something? I'm not saying you're lying, I'm just saying that's how good it looks.

...
...
...

You don't work for some big name company, right?

Looks at screenshots and drools some more.

F*CK EA, i hate those *U** :D no, only joking but This is really homebrew and will be free...but yeah we are proffessionnal game develloper doing this during our free time for your pleasur...

Lol, yeah. EA can go to hell. They were just the first company that came to mind when I wrote that.

Just the fact that they buy out property rights so no one else can make games for them (Marvel) is reason enough for me not to like them... But I was reading about them recently, and I found out that they buy small game companies. Then they rush the release date, and fire them when their games don't sell well. Money grubbing pricks...

Alright, enough with the EA bashing, lol.

I'm really looking forward to a release for this! I just ordered a PSP a few days ago, so you could say I had good timing. The fact that this is free just blows my mind.

Thanks for all the work you're putting into it!

Hi, just exchange few email with the coder and we should able to post an executable really soon...

it probably will be a simple character/animation viewer
but it s the first step...(still have a ton of work on the animation side before we post anything playable)

until then...:D here few more render of the 2 playable character...

Ahh this good ole game.

If anybody wonders (not trying to steal any credit here, 10shu & team deserve all of it), This originaly started out as the beat em up game I wanted to do back when I was doing homebrew. 10shu started the art but I sadly jsut did not have the time to dedicate to a massive undertaking like this so it swiched to the tallented coder of nogravity (me, 10shu & him all know each other in real life).

Ah good times. :(

Oh well, I keep happy with my puzzle game i'm doing. *looks around sharply*

How long has this project been going on?

i ve been working on it on and off for about a year<It take time to do thoses character cause of the technique I use...i also work on other projects...>

but now than I have a coder I just start focusing a little bit more on it...

I am actually working on a 2nd level for the game. A japanese karate school...kind of like the brucelee movie fist of fury...:)

Amazing work!
When released, will you release the source as well? This would be a great engine/base for the community to make mod from.

btw, "Brotherhood of violence" sounds better, but still not original... I'll think of something ;)

PSP-FU!
If Chuck Could Code (if CCC)
