A WBIE spokesperson has told GamesIndustry.biz that their plans have been "misunderstood by MCV."
MCV recently reported that WBIE senior VP of worldwide sales and distribution, Ron Scott, revealed that the company planned to take back licenses such as Superman, Batman, Harry Potter, and The Sopranos.
According to WBIE's Remi Sklar "Ron Scott was misunderstood by MCV and the article does not fully represent our plans."
Sklar told GamesIndustry.biz "We are still very committed and will continue our strong partnerships with WBIE licensees."
WBIE recently opened a London office and announced plans to take over direct distribution, sales, and marketing of its internally-developed titles as well as its third-party titles in Europe.
WBIE's parent company has a five year deal with Legendary Pictures to co-produce and co-finance movies based upon Warner Bros. properties. Legendary has already released Batman Begins, Superman Returns, and 300, and is currently in production on The Dark Knight.
Legendary Picture's chariman and CEO founded Brash Studios, whose upcoming videogames will be distributed by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.
