RETAIL stalwart Virgin Megastores is to disappear completely from the High Street in November – but the new group formed from its ashes wants to take on GAME in the hunt for market share.

New retail operation Zavvi is to be headed up by former Virgin Megastores MD Simon Douglas and finance director Steve Peckham. The pair want to shed image ties with Virgin to make a fresh start in the entertainment retail space.

“I think the challenge for us is breaking away from one of the biggest brands in the world,” new Zavvi MD Simon Douglas told MCV.

“We’re committed to games, and the brand will be given every opportunity to compete with GAME and Gamestation.”

If Virgin Megastores are to close, then a SALE is going to take place...

...Just like when all the MVC's closed and became Music Zone, which collapsed. Now that just leaves us with HMV for all our music and dvd needs if the new Virgin Megastores are going to concentrate on taking on GAME in the competition.
