Odd Question about updating Japanese PSP 1.0

I am familiar with the Kxploit that works with the US 1.5 PSP units. I have a close friend who bought mine from me before the ver 1.5 had been hacked. a couple of days ago I assisted him with loading emulators and roms using this mod program so he could try out what I have been playing for months on my Japanese 1.0 unit.

Here are my questions:

1. Has anyone updated their Japanese PSP to 1.5 and tried to run emulators after running them through the Kxploit program? If so does it work?

2. Do I need to find the japanese upgraid for my PSP or can I use the american one on my Japanese unit?
