CXMB 2.5 Tutorial, Original News Thread and Compatibility Reports (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=75535&page=1)

This is all tested using a Phat PSP running 3.71M33

Using CXMB 2.5

1. Create a folder on the root of the PSP's memory card called cxmb
In this example
The windows drive I: is the root of the PSP memory stick.

2. Copy the cxmb.prx to this folder
http://www.fullburn.com/cxmb/CXMB_01.jpg

3. In the cxmb folder create two folders called: vsh and font
(copy only one custom font into the font folder: ltn0.pgf)
http://www.fullburn.com/cxmb/CXMB_01.jpg

4. Inside of the vsh folder create another folder called: resource
http://www.fullburn.com/cxmb/CXMB_02.jpg

5. Inside of the resource folder copy all of the custom RCO's that you want to use.
(To use a custom back ground resize the image to 352x199.
Make sure its .BMP and named 01-12.bmp as shown in the pic.)

6. Go to the seplugins folder on your memory stick and edit the vsh.txt file to include the line:
ms0:/cxmb/cxmb.prx

7. Boot into Recovery and Enable the CXMB plug-in

If you want to change the background of a custom theme to use the 01-12.bmp background image
(So that the waves ride on top of the background image)

This example uses the Black Rhizura theme for 3.71M33 (http://www.consolespot.net/forums/showthread.php?t=609&highlight=Black+Rhizura+theme)

1. Go to Settings -> Color -> Choose the First color icon under By Month
http://www.fullburn.com/cxmb/snap005.jpg

2. Next Go to Settings -> Wallpaper and Choose Original.

3. Reboot your PSP the best way you know how
http://www.fullburn.com/cxmb/snap006.jpg

4. Now the waves ride on top of the background image:

I am on 3.71M33-2 and when I try to use this I just get a freeze on boot.

There have been people saying this does in fact work on 3.71M33 and others say that it doesn't, which is correct because I really want to use this???

Hi !! I'm new here !
Really great your tutorial MicroNut  !!
I got just a problem with the theme AppleCor that you can find on this web site : http://www.pspgen.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=5038
The archive of this folder has a folder named "vsh" and inside this one there is a sub folder named "module" which includes the files paf.prx and vshmain.prx ? Where shall I put them ? Without these files I can't see the menu correctly !
Thanks in Advance !!

Anybody know where MicroNut got the background with the shadowy tree he used as an example in the tutorial? I tried to PM him, but his box is full...

Thanks for the tutorial. I didn't know the waves would work over the wallpaper. Works awesome with the newly updated ultimate blue III theme. Thanks again.

Hi,

I've tried all the rco in this plugin and here are ive got when i put one by one in the resource folder.

topmenu_plugin.rco - not working, maybe because of the custom icons that ive using (edit: also one causing the hang-up on boot.)
system_plugin_bg.rco - works
system_plugin.rco - works but in a matter of time, the xmb hangs and shut downs automatically.
system_plugin_fg.rco - hangs up in opening boot
impose_plugin.rco - works
gameboot.pmf - works
ltn0.pgf - works
game_plugin.rco - no difference
sysconf_plugin_about.rco - not yet tried
premo_plugin.rco - not tried
savedata_plugin.rco - not tried
photo_plugin.rco - not tried
visualizer_plugin.rco

Ill test other custom rcos if they can come up with a nice combinations...

and btw, its a nice app, currently running 3.71M33-3.

Nice tut Micronut, just a minor detail you forgot

I am on 3.71M33-2 and when I try to use this I just get a freeze on boot.

There have been people saying this does in fact work on 3.71M33 and others say that it doesn't, which is correct because I really want to use this???

The CXMB plugin does work on 3.71 M33, I had the same problem that you.

The thing is that in order to get this to work your custom firmware 3.71 M33 has to had been installed through pandora's battery, that way the files on flash0 show as normal files, not hidden or read only as it happens with DAX's updater.

I think someone made an app. to remove the hidden and read-only status from the files on flash0, but I don't remember exactly. I've always wanted to try and do it manually to see what happens but I've been too scared to do so, besides I don't need to haha

So, that is why some people say it works and some say that it doesn't, depending on the CF instalation method they used

edit: damn this is old as hell, sorry I didn't saw the date until I've posted :p
