3.40 OE-A was the first and only firmware that ive put on the psp.

After ages and ages ive decided to upgrade.
So now im lost, with all the new ones and the updates i dont know where to being, I go with the highest one, 3.71 i go there it says i cant do it unless im running 3.52, 3.60 or somthing so i look for that then it says those are only for psp slim.

Can some one please clear everything up for me.
Links and steps to upgrade.
Doesnt have to be steps for the upgrades them selves just like a, Install this, then this then this kinda thing,... I know how to install stuff and if i dont i can read the read me.

It's generally the better idea to wait to upgrade until it's absolutely essential, as in a new game wanting a higher firmware, or some-odd must-have function has appeared in an update.

from what i've read the sequence would seem to be

3.40 OE-A to 3.52 m33 to m33-4 then to 3.71 m33

is that correct?

gripshift doesn't seem to work with my 3.40 oe-a :(

okay, im going to walk you through on upgrading to 3.52M33-4 from 3.40OE-A, BE SURE TO FOLLOW EVERY STEP

1st, you will need the official 1.50 and 3.52 sony eboots. get them here;
3.52
http://www.psp-hacks.com/category/60
1.50
http://www.psp-hacks.com/category/43

okay, now that you have both of em, put them in one folder on your desktop and rename the 1.52 eboot to 150.pbp and the 3.52 eboot to 352.pbp

okay, now get the 3.52M33 installer and put it in your "Game150" folder found in your psp
here;
http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/1210

run it in your psp and follow the instructions.
oh! and put the eboots you downloaded in the same folder where the updater is found.

after it dumps the files, go back to your xmb and back to the game section of the menu and go to memstick, there will be a new icon, "3.52M33 update" run it and wait for your psp to finish installing it. when it is done, youll hafta manually reboot your psp.

now that you have 3.52M33, update it to the latest patch of 3.52M33, which is 3.52M33-4(the most stable one)
here it is;
http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/1231

put it in your game150 folder in your psp and run it.

you should now have 3.52M33-4

feel free to ask me questions, if anything wasn't clear enough for ya.

EDIT: i suggest you stick with 3.52M33-4 first, 3.71M33 isnt that stable yet and has a few glitches.

When you update to 3.71 M33 set your kernel to 3.52 otherwise you will get confused like most other people do with kernel changes

Stay with 3.40 OE until it is necessary to upgrade. 3.71 M33 has some bugs right now that are pretty lame. I was on it for a week or two and a lot of things bothered me, so I went to 3.40 OE and I like it more.
