Hi,

I've got 1.5 on my PSP, but I recently bought a PSP game that I'd like to play, but it says I need to update to play it! Obviously I can't, is there some other way? I'm sure there's a guide around for this somewhere, and I'd appreciate if anyone could help me or simply refer me to it.

Er, why can't you update?

Because the homebrew I use runs on 1.5

Sorry? I'm sort of a noob when it comes to PSP..I just follow guides and stuff. Could you point me in the direction of a guide or explain further?

you have to download them and run them on the psp, here is a link

instructions are in the readme file

Ah, Great! But is there any way to get it back to 1.5 easily? :3

yes, you can download recovery files, but why would you want to go back to 1.50??

The custom firmwares allow you to do everything a 1.5 does. Plus the added bonus of being able to run the latest Sony firmwares, which in turn allow you to run all the new games, newest functionality, and a fully functional ps1 emulator. But the bets thing about them is that there is a mode called "recovery" that allows you to manipulate and fix your psp(to a certain extent) if something goes wrong. Good news, however, is that you can fix just about any problem with pandora's battery and memory stick(but thats complicated stuff you don't really need yet).

If you are unsure whether to update to a custom firmware, you can emulate firmwares on your 1.5 by using devhook.
