It's been revealed the version of Manhunt 2 that the British Board of Film Classification turned down earlier this week in the UK, is exactly the same as the revised edition that's been granted a mature rating by the ESRB in North America.

This revelation comes from UK trade magazine MCV during an interview with BBFC spokeswoman Sue Clark. She defends the board's decision saying that the organisation isn't any tougher on videogames than it is on movies. "Manhunt 2 is the second game we have rejected in 23 years. I'd hardly call that draconian," she said.

Clark also responded to Rockstar's criticisms that the decision was 'unacceptable' and that adults should be able to make decisions for themselves. "DVD companies don't complain when we reject their products. The creator of the Struggle In Bondage didn't get up in arms. Manhunt 2 went beyond our guidelines when it came to gross violence and we had a public duty to reject it," she added.

Rockstar must now wait to hear a decision from the Video Appeals Committee, which will decide whether or not the game can be released in the UK.

Can anyone see this getting imported from the rest of Europe now? I sure as hell can.
Most games these days will have multi-language manuals and game options, this will surely be no different.
Oh well, PSP is multi region anyway, BBFC can go suck a c*%K!!, what right do they have to tell me what games I can and can't buy in my own country, fair enough, it should not be sold to children, but an 18 certificate is good enough for some god awful film's (such as the Saw series) why is it not good enough for a video game? Not like the PSP, PS2 and Wii have the most ground breaking graphics now is it?

Wasn't Postal 2 also banned in the UK? I know it was banned in alot of countries and i figured if UK is gonna ban ManHunt they would ban Postal 2 as well.....so for them to say "this is only the 2nd game banned in 23 years" could also be read as "this is the 2nd game banned in the past 7 or 8 years" if Postal 2 got banned.....

Yeah, right on, BBFC! Screw adults making decisions for themselves!
Y'know, "Struggle in Bondage" is obviously the title of a pornographic movie, not a movie intended for theaters.

Nope! not possible (unless it is for the PSP) PS2 and Wii are both Region coded to prevent the use of games from other regions, namely NTSC-J, NTSC-U and PAL regions, as long as the game is released in france, Germany, Spain or anywhere in the PAL region we WILL be able to import a working version for the UK, unless Rockstar are forced to somehow alter the game to not work in the UK, but I cant think of any way they could do that.

British Board of Film Classification are being gay about this its only game and any way the British Board of Film Classification should not have the right classify rating for games they are just being prodi paedo kunts. violence is my nature and everyone else on this planet so the BBFC can go and get bukkaked for all i care.

Nope Postal 2 never got banned here, they probably mean Carmageddon which was banned in its first form but alter passed after they changed the peds to zombies (a patch turned em back soon after release of course). The only result of this decision will be to make more money for import stores & ebay sellers, maybe the family of the head of the bbfc has an import shop? ah well I was planning on getting the uncut version imported from is it holland? I forget exactly somewhere in that area as being part of the pal area it will most likely have English options in it

Is the game actually banned or is it just an AO rating? In which case I 100% agree that manhunt is an AO game. The problem is not with the rating boards, it with Sony Nintendo and MS and stores not willing to support AO games. Not that I encourage AO games... sure there are arguments for artisitc vision but we all know we're just going to get 90% hentai trash fodder by the metric ton if that were allowed.

There's no real reason to import it from the US if you live in Europe, I remember hearing that some European countries (Denmark? I can't remember) will have Manhunt 2 in it's uncut form.
