When I go to load rom on the neogeo pocket nothing happens.

You have to put your roms in the rom folder.

I am going to assume you have 1.3.. That being the case, it should work fine. the only other thing i can think of is if you renamed the emulators folder.. unlike most other emulators, it dosnt support that. Dont even try to hide the corrupt data.

If your version is below 1.3 your better off dling 1.3, but just for good measure be sure you rename the rom file rom.ngp
