Despite certain reviews that highlight the game's flaws, Super Mario Galaxy is currently the highest rated game of all time on Game Rankings. The aeronautical plumber surpassed The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time by the skin of his pearly Italian teeth, with an average score of 97.8 percent from 30 reviews to Zelda's 97.6 percent from 31 reviews.

While all it would take is one less-than-flattering review to knock the game from its pedestal, we're sure Mario's position on top of the dog pile is enough to give Wii owners and Nintendo fanboys something to gloat about. That is, until M&M's Kart Racing inevitably seizes the throne.

I will have to say that this IS the greatest 3d platformer of all time in my opinion. Dammit it is good. At last we have a game that can justify the purchase of Nintendo Wii. Yes Wii Sports is fun and stuff and Resident Evil 4 is great, but Mario Galaxy is worth the price of the system even if it's only for that game.

I can't believe I don't have this yet; I'm definitely going to get it! Super Mario 64 was one of my favorite games of all time, and Nintendo themselves have said that Galaxy is "the first worthy successor to Mario 64".

I wasn't ever a big fan of Super Mario 64- didn't own an N64 (or a Gamecube) and Mario in 3D just never seemed right to me.

Picked up Super Mario Galaxy on Friday and I concur that it is truly a great game- not flawless, but so much fun that any minor flaws can easily be overlooked. It's by far the most varied 3D platformer I've ever played.
