It sounds like you have a later firmware. Homebrew games and apps won't run on the latest firmware.

Or he just failed to look at any of the great links Xuphorz pointed out and simply threw the homebrew on his PSP.

will emulators ever work for psp version 2.0? and if so please provide a guide on how to do it.

No they will not. Please read the guides. The first peice of information that EVERYONE should know about the scene is this -

CURRENTLY ONLY 1.00 & 1.50 CAN RUN HOMEBREW!

There is supposed to be a downgrader coming out for 1.51 and 1.52 in the next week so if you have those formwares DON'T UPGRADE to 2.0

SO FAR THERE IS NO WAY OF RUNNING HOMEBREW FROM 2.00 AND NO HOPE IN SIGHT, SO FAR (eventually it will be done, but it could be a LONG time).

Yes there is a way to downgrade PSP 2.0 to 1.5.
But 2.01 is still not downgradeable.

Where to get homebrew?
Ask www.google.com ;)

ho hum. got given a sample one. shame it was already 2.01 :-( still... mustn't grumble, i'm sure it'll get 'fixed' sooner or later, and it was a free PSP after all :-) I wonder how long it'll take?

Hey guys! I have been here occasionally when I could get onto a friend's computer, but now I finally have my own. I have a little knowledge of my PSP emulation capabilities. Fortunately I still have my 1.5 firmware intact and have an SNES, Genesis and Gameboy Color emulator working (not to mention that WONDERFUL PDF reader so I can read books. Whoever created that, thanks a MILLION!)
BUT...as I am still fairly new to this I still have some trouble getting around on this site. I think my most often asked questions are:
1. I would eventually like to play Burnout Legends and Liberty City Stories. Right now, I refuse to upgrade but what's the best thing to do? Maybe someone should make a sticky thread on Firmware downgraders or exploit updates.

2. I had NesterJ working once before, but due to my only having the 32mb Crapstick, I deleted it so I could make room for Doom2. NOW I have no idea where I got that pre-modded NesterJ that installs easily on it's own. Why can't all the emulators have the easy premodded versions available? Not complaining. It will only take me some time to figure it out on my own...but still...

3. Why isn't it easier to find the most updated emulators? I tried reading the emulator guide somewhere but it was way outdated. Is there an SNES emulator that runs full speed yet without cutting frames?

These are just the newbie questions I had. Thanks for taking the time to read them if you did. :D

murdockthesungod - READ whatever information came with the EMU you are talking about and look it up. It sounds like you don't have the file structure the way it needs to be. I don't even know what Emulator you're talking about but I can bet you also need a ROMS folder somewhere.

DarksaberJ -

1 Buy a second PSP :p Seriously there's not much that can be done except wait and see if someone comes up with a solution. (At least for us wannabe hackers)

2 Alot of great customs right HERE (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=8972&highlight=custom)

3 Most EMU updates are listed right on the Main Page (http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/) Links to each EMU are on the left side starting a little way down the page. If there is a new update it's usually listed quite quickly.

Yup. That main page is set up very well imo. I just got kind of frustrated when I went back to NesterJ and the one that already has the Eboot in the two folders wasn't there. So I am now really starting to try working out how to do it on my own. I will be personally pleased with myself when I can figure out on my own how to hide those "corrupt" files that I still have on two of the emulators.
Anyway, thanks very much for the advice! Hopefully I will be able to learn how to be a productive member.

Well you can easily find threads on it I'm sure if you SEARCH (blue toolbar on top of every page) :D

Hi all.

I have a V1.5 psp and new UMD games such as King Kong, Crash Tag Team Racing do not run on this version.

I have tried to use the version updaters WAB version changer V2 and V2.5, and also SXT version changer V2.01, but still get the error message "The game could not be started (FFFFFED3).

Having spent hours searching for fixes for this, I discovered that this meant that there is a "missing encryption" and that the game will not work on a "changed" version, only on a really updated V2.0 or higher.

Anyone got any clues about how to bypass this, as my children love playing the older Mario style games, but also want to play the new ones! Obviously, I could properly upgrade, but then they wouldn't be able to use the emulators for the ISO games.

HELP!

And I am truly not just being lazy - I have searched and searched!!!
