I was wondering is there a special program or files I need to run Homebrew on my dreamcast? ( This does not include backup games) I mean Emulators?

Also I heard that some Dreamcast games were being released commercially somehow very soon and where exactly would you buy these?

Commercial homebrew games were published by Goat Store Publishing and RedSpotGames (at the moment).

If you have an NTSC-U Dreamcast console released after October 2000, it will not be compatible with homebrew (because the mil-CD compatibility is removed).

Hi 1magus,

There's nothing special required. However, if you want to download emulators you need to read the readme for info on the directory structure it needs. For example DreamSNES (a Super Nintendo emu) needs unzipped roms. It looks for roms in \ROMS. You will want to download BootDreams (http://dchelp.dcemulation.com/?BootDreams) and read the help file - also to familiarize yourself with burning Dreamcast discs.

www.Dreamcast-Scene.com is a useful place for information on many of the emulators released within a couple years - just search their site.

For commercially released homebrew games check out www.goatstore.com for purchases and http://www.goatstore.com/publishing/ for new release information. http://www.redspotgames.com/ is also starting to publish homebrew games.

Cryptic Allusion is in the middle of creating their second (first was Feet of Fury, a DDR style game) commercial release Donk (http://www.cagames.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=12&sid=f3b40bbfef7b835b7c4164792801603a).

And before you make the mistake of breaking a forum rule (not saying you have) also familiarize yourself with our rules (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/announcement.php?f=263&a=4).

If I ordered one of these commercial games than would they come on a Dreamcast disc or CDs?

They're pressed on CDs. I know at least one of the releases from Japan are pressed on GDs.

New commercial releases from Japan can be bought from Play-Asia.
