The long-awaited offline mode for SimCity seems to be nearly here.http://images.eurogamer.net/2013/articles/1/6/6/2/5/4/3/139480696576.jpg/EG11/resize/300x-1/quality/70/format/jpgPhew!

Offline mode will be a part of Update 10, which is in "final testing" according to the official Twitter account (https://twitter.com/simcity/status/443831560349822976) (via IGN (http://uk.ign.com/articles/2014/03/14/simcity-offline-mode-is-in-final-testing)). "Almost there mayors."To say SimCity had a few hiccups at launch is an understatement, and many of them revolved around the questionable always-online requirement.Series creator Will Wright described the launch as "inexcusable" (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-05-07-as-will-wright-labels-the-launch-of-simcity-inexcusable-maxis-details-update-3-but-still-no-offline-mode).Why has the offline mode taken so long? The entire game was built around people's cities communicating with each other online, and altering that took six-and-a-half months of development (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-01-14-maxis-explains-why-simcity-offline-is-taking-so-long).
