Need Help with Remote

Our remote is on but when you try to play a game it does not move. Example, when trying to bowl the ball seems to be thrown backwards. The arm on the screen will not raise or swing to throw the ball. What is wrong?

Try tapping it, I have to tap mine sometimes and it does the trick.
