First off this is a release for the Sega Saturn (http://sega-saturn.dcemu.co.uk/) but thats not why im posting this as a full network post.

This Mario (http://www.satakore.com/sega-saturn-game-basic,,mario011,,Virtua-Mario-Super-Mario-Yukun-Software.html) Game for the Sega Saturn is coded as a 3D Platformer and to say its coded by Homebrew programmers on a system thats low powered for a Homebrew Console these days is something to be proud of but this release is even more special, its written in Saturn Basic (http://www.satakore.com/sega-saturn-complete-game-basic,,1,,0.html) and the end product is amazing.

Heres the screens

Its great to see Homebrew like this and especially coded in Basic and for an old system like the Sega Saturn :)

Those screenshot are not bad, I bet the homebrew project must have taken a long time to complete.

Mario looks like he's from that old block music video. I think it was done in the 80's? I can't remember...

If it is ported to other systems, it can be a great piece of homebrew.

Uhh... wraggy, not to break the eggs...

But this has been released in 2003 and...

The first world of Super Mario reproduced in 3D on the Saturn, in development, not finished.

So it's a bit incomplete :P

BTW, seeing the vid, it's buggy and almost every block gives you a power mush...

It's homebrew dude, so don't complain, it's obviously still in the works.

thays crazey for saturn.... was perobably really complicated to program due to the saturns complexity.

aha.... great... why is Mario a cluster of blocks? if they were going for a classic look they may have skipped a little detail.

couldn't be lack of hardware requirements, i only gave looked into some of the Saturn games, but from what i gathered, it was a bit more capable.

also, why is this good news to psp users? i thought there was going to be a link to a psp version of something.

EDIT: i just reread and found out you posted it to the whole network.... it's your site i guess

Have you read my post dude?

It's been released in 2003. A new release it's unprobable.

Yes, I read your post.

A new release, maybe not...

...But a patched/updated version could be probable, from all the attention the game has received I doubt that the game isn't having any updates, also they didn't encrypt the source code so it's basically open for anyone to play with.

Some one could code this in lua very easyly. The rotation is very advanced though. Wonderful app for being written in basic

And after 5 years why is this game known only now?
Maybe it's just Wraggy that found it now... But to the devs it was probably already known, and no-one thought that continuing a SATURN homebrew would be useful. So the possibility of seeing an update is near 0%.

nice, but mario is too blocky!

Because it was written entirely in "Saturn Basic" and not with a rendering tool which is what makes this title awesome.

If you check one of my previous posts in this topic, you will see attached a text document which is the source (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=2148009661&postcount=17).
