DCEmu Coder Notaz (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/search.php?searchid=1669158) has today released a major breakthrough for the Whole Emulation scene ( Major Breakthroughs are always great) and thats the emulation of the SVP Chip on the Megadrive Game Virtua racing.

At the moment this runs only on Windows but what a great breakthrough for the Emulation scene :)

Digg This (http://digg.com/gaming_news/Virtua_Racing_Emulated)

Notaz is also working on a GP2X version which is running at 17FPS and Maybe even a PSP Version (we hope).

Sadly this has nothing to do with the DS as it won't be able to emulate this, right ? :(

All work from Notaz is appreciated. He has contributed so much. I use and love the PicoDrive emulator for the PSP and hope to see more works of his make it to the PSP.

never played megadrive

well you've been missing out... I was hoping this was a DC port/advancement seeing how it made it to the DC news section. Any ways it doesnt really concern me too much seeing how I already own a genesis and a copy of virtua racing. but good to see anyways

For those that don't know the Sega MegaDrive is the Sega Genesis.

Because Virtua Racing was the only game to ever use the SVP chip it will probably be the only emulated game that will see a benefit from this.

Still an amazing accomplishment considering information on the chip is almost zero.
This means that a lot of hardwork and talent went into figuring out how to emulate this obscure DSP.

*Cums*

...And I thought just for a second, Sonic Scene God Nemesis was going to emulated first with his new Emulator. I would love to see this working in the next release for the PSP.

Really nice work. Best news from the Megadrive scene since god knows how long. Have a unborn baby. *Gives* Well done Notaz!

What next a 32x emulator for the PSP. :P

I prefer the 32X or the Saturn Version anyways.

People have already thought about this and if it was easy it would of already been done and since it would be rediculosly difficult and its not a very popular console, very few bother programmers be skilled enough and even fewer who are interested.

Even though I do own a PSP, Dreamcast users have been waiting MUCH longer for this, plus their both Sega systems :)

hm considering this has been playable on windows emulators for years i just kinda assumed it could be ran on the current lineup of megadrive (non 32x) emulators

and yea the 32x version (delux) is better, for instance the lack of badly dithered colors and faster speed

if they had a racing wheel with paddle shifters back then it would be near arcade perfect

Yeah, this is the first emulator I think that actually works with it (correct me if I'm wrong). Gens/Kega Fusion didnt work for me anyway.

I don't actually care about playing Virtua Racing, but it's nice to see progress anyways.
