I know this is probably a stupid question but my little brother is having problems and I really don't have the time to hunt down the info...hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

My bro has FW 3.03 oec.
He wants to get to the new 3.90 with the 1.50 capabilities and all that.

He downloaded the newer easy installer and it says files are missing?

Does he need to go up to a certain firmware first?

Are there any known issues that would force me to recommend he not upgrade to this firmware? I'm quite happy with 3.03 myself...

Thanks for any time you spend on me!

You must install 3.52m33-3 first and then go to 3.90m33.
I would recommend going to 3.80m33 as there is no popsloader for 3.90 yet (for playing the ps1 games). The problem with 3.03oe is any newer games needing a higher firmware to run will will need an upgrade so its far better upgrading now to customfirmware than having to take and official update just to play a game.

I disagree. The popsloader for 3.80 works fine on 3.90 (I've had no problems and 3.90 actually increased compatibilty on games running through popsloader!)

3.90 has its glitches though, because it's new, but updates will eventually take care of these problems. So...3.80 or 3.90. There really isn't that much difference.
