Hi chaps, just a quick question

Hi have a Psp, with custom firmware:

3.03 OE-C

Everything works perfect, i have genesis, snes ,

neo geo, cps2, ps1 etc etc

I have seen some nice new games such as Patpon and others nice titles out on the market. Im assuming this runs on a higher firmware such as 3.90, and this is the custom firmware i'm after.

My question is are there any risks associated with upgrading to this Dark Alex 3.90m33?

I really don't wanna lose anything, because it all runs great so far, i just want to upgrade to play new psp titles

Will all my Genesis,Snes, Neo Geo, CPS2, PS1 work?

Will i lose anything? Is it a say upgrade?

Thanks

back up all your save data because you have to convert them to be compatible with the new firmware

yet.I have Genesis,Snes,N64,gba,nes,... They all work for me.

1. After 3.71M33 If you want to popsloader beyond 3.71pops you have to convert your PS1 game saves
They cannot be converted back.
Back them up before conversion

2. After 3.71 there is a change in the fatstorage prx.
Slow read and write access times can be problem.
Make sure you patch your firmware with the fatmsmod patch on DA's site, or format your MS with the PSP after the upgrade.

3. After 3.71 XMB game Icon and PIC1 display can be very slow.
In 3.80M33 and above there is an option in the recovery menu to disable viewing these icons if you want to speed up XMB browsing.

4. Some PSP's have problems upgrading successfully past 3.71M33 to 3.90.
You might want to use Despertar del Cementerio 4 to go strait to 3.80 and then up to 3.90M33-2
It fix's all of the previous possible firmware flash problems.

5. Make a backup (DUMP) of your NAND before starting the process.

Its always good to be on the latest custom firmware

3.90 M33 has 1.50 kernal support aswell, so everything should work

Micronut , u say that u only upgrade when you have too,

I'm assuming that means, when a game comes out that u want to play badly , but can't without the upgrade

Can we just clarify the risk level in upgrading to 3.90m33 from 3.03 oe-c, because i have a psp that works fine , i dont want to brick it, i dont care about save data files, i just care about a sucessful smooth upgrade.

Whats the risk level on a scale of 1 to 10

Thanks

Thats right.
When GoW comes out I may have to upgrade.

Risk is generally the same as its always been.
Its really hard for me to rate it.
Not all PSP's are created Equal

Without Pandora I would say if you do everything right 9.5 out of 10 on average successes.
With Pandora your success rate would be >99%

There are some things that you can do to minimize the risk.

Upgrade with the power plugged in.
Use a genuine memory stick.
Get and use Pandora.

From what understand there are some great auto installers out there.
I don't use them.
I follow the instructions in the howto.

Patapon works on 3.71M33-4 btw...
