Hi, new here, but I need some help with my PSP. I just upgraded from 3.40 OE-A to 3.52 M33-4. I want to upgraded to 3.71 M33-4, but when I run the updater I just get the message that I need to have 3.52 M33-4 or later and the PSP resets. I wanted to get into the recovery menu to make sure it was set to the 3.40 kernel, but I can't seem to get the recovery menu open. It always worked in the past with 3.40 OE-A and everything else is working fine. But I hold the right trigger and turn it on and it just goes to the regular XMB. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Put the updater in the game352 folder.

Alright, I'll give that a try and see if it works. Thanks.

Just tried it and the PSP only recognizes it as Corrupted Data. Anything else I can try?

Are you sure it's the right file?
Download the 3.52 M33 update from www.dark-alex.org (Not M33-4) then get the 3.52 official update, and do what is required.

Try it that way, then if that works, update to M33-4 while on 3.52

But I already have 3.52 M33-4. I'm having a problem getting 3.71 M33 installed.

Are you sure you have 3.52 m33? System setting, system info.

Positive. When I go to the system settings it says it is version 3.52 M33-4.

You're using the 3.71 m33 updater not the 3.71 m33-4 updater right?

To the best of my knowledge, yes. I was using this guide: http://www.pspmod.com/forums/psp-firmware-guides/22483-how-3-71-m33-installation.html

I just tried it again to be sure and I get the same "This program requires 3.52 M33-3 or higher"

I am really confused.

UPDATE!

I tried removing the battery, holding down R while I put the battery in and turned it back on and the recovery menu came up! So I switched the kernel to 3.52 and am now in the process of updating to 3.71 M33! Thanks so much for all the help!

I'm really not sure to be honest. It always worked before with 3.40 OE-A when I turned it off, waited a few seconds, then held in R while I turned it on. Now I have to take out the battery and hold R while I put the battery in and turn it on. But it works that way and I've done it a couple times now.
