Image Viewer won't run on M3 Real

every time i load up image viewer on my m3 real i get a blue screen error just after the english loading text. this hasn't happened before to me on my m3 simply, using the same memory card, and i can't think why this is happening. i've patched it and tested it with the m3 real.nds file and the m3 simply.nds file, both crash with a blue screen.

any ideas? thanks in advance
