With more than a week to go until it's released, the number of PAL pre-orders for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue has topped 1 million.

That's according to GeekPulp, which got the info from Dave Hine and Paul Gunn of SCE New Zealand.

It's the first time a PS3 title has racked up 1 million sales, and thereby achieved Platinum status, before it's even released.

Sony UK has yet to confirm the figure. However it has been announced that more than 48 million games in the Gran Turismo series have now been sold - "almost 50 million", in fact, if you read the latest press release.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will be released via PlayStation Network on Thursday 27th March, and will be in shops the following day.

Yes, enjoy it - you sick, stupid ****ups. As long as you pay money for demos, the price for games are never coming down.

This game demo looks v nice! :) ...Its just a shame the full game isn't out in the UK till next year.

Is there actually any physical damage to cars now when you crash in this game?? ...Because it would be a piss poor effort if you still can’t write your shiny car off? lol

Apparently theres going to be almost no DLC for the full GT5 game either (according to numerous websites)!

I think its a big mistake from sony not to include any damage in the game... fair enough that it didn't happen in GT on ps1 or ps2, but now people expect 'little' touches like this - especially with the billed 'ultimate driving simulator'!

I guess thats another game to cross off the exclusive PS3 want list now. lol

I'll stick with PGR4 and Forza 2 thanks very much. ;)

It's not Sony's fault the car companies just won't let them add that in.

I really can't understand it though? ...this will be one of the only games on the market that doesn't have this feature?

Very strange??

Can't you express your feelings in a less hateful, spiteful, and childish manner?

I guess his frustration from $ony has brought out his forum tourette's!

Anyway this game is a freakin next generation title and its still stuck in the dark ages with its 'traditional' feel. Gliding a super shinny car round a track that can't be damaged is not what I expected for the first GT instalment on the mighty PS3? lol

Surely with all of Sonys money they could just pay and make it so its more realistic? ...if other devs can do it then I don't see why Sony has to be the one lagging behind the competition?

learn to drive…

Dont forget, technically, this isnt the first installment of GT on PS3 [it is both the second and none!]

When i play the demo i very rarely come into contact with other cars or the barriers, and i always do best without any contact. So if there was damage modeling, i wouldnt see/feel it. How many people simply restart a race if they make a mistake ?

also, the box says "the real driving simulator" for a reason. This is car pornography, not a racing simulator.

lol
it is the most advance car simulation there will be in the future...

SIMULATION!!!!!!!!! not a game... i guess thats the reason for no car damage??

A simulation is meant to be the same, in this case racing.

So if i drive a car on a track and i smash into a barrier, will i bounce off?

have you ever see another realistic racing simulation software?

I guess they think it a waste of money that could be better spent elsewhere or they are just cheap.

At least collisions have an impact on the cars performance, cosmetic damage changes are not really necessary.
