"It appears that a third installment to Sony’s Getways' series is still on the way to PS3 after all.
Though the platform holder had never said anything to the contrary, the fact that it’s been almost two years since the firm spoke of the title had lead to much speculation.
However, CVG reports that Getaway producer Katie Ellwood has now stated: "The story and game script for this one is very exciting, as is the writer we have on board. I'm afraid I can't give any further information, other than to say ‘watch this space’."
She also added that Sony is "talking to production houses about a movie for the third game in The Getaway series."
Speaking of how the PS3’s processing power is playing a part in the development, she explained: "The next-gen of consoles have liberated us. There are wider possibilities to use that processing power and tell a story during the game play.
"We can stream a wider variety of dialog and animations to progress the story and characterization rather than breaking the flow of the game play for a cut scene. If games are about immersion, then we are now about to deepen that immersion.”"
There is still no announcement of the release date yet. I can't even say how excited I am for this game, the graphics look awesome and those screen shots were from the demo almost 2 years ago so imagine how much better they will be when they program the other Core(s).
