Criterion producer Matt Webster says Most Wanted is powered by the second generation of its Autolog technology, which was first seen in masterful 2010 racer Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit and adds a layer of persistent competition between players and those on their friends lists. "It's integrated more deeply into the game than ever before," Webster said. "Everything you do earns you speed points, which drive you up the most wanted list."
The open world structure naturally means players can pick their own routes in a bid to escape the police, with creative director Craig Sullivan's gameplay demo showing off-road sections, while frequent jumps and bursts through barriers evoked fond memories of Criterion's Burnout Paradise.
Need For Speed: Most Wanted will be released on October 30. To keep track of the avalanche of news and announcements, we suggest you bookmark our E3 2012 topic page.
