    A few months ago, a contact reached out to me with an irresistible offer. I would be given the opportunity to experiment with an insanely rare, prototype development kit PlayStation Vita. The only ask from my source is that I somehow dump the boot code. I’ve spent the last seven years hacking every last bit of the Vita from exploiting the kernel to extracting hardware keys with AES fault injections. In that long journey, I’ve gotten intimate with every model and revision of the Vita so it seems inevitable that I would find myself with the very first prototype. The DEM-3000L is actually more rare than the DEM-3000H that recently made headlines having been sold for $20,000. Although I cannot confirm this independently, my source claims that the DEM-3000H units were distributed to early game developers while the DEM-3000L was used internally at Sony to develop the system firmware. The history of this particular DEM-3000L was that two of these were originally found side by side at a Chinese landfill. They had extensive water damage (I was told they were “at the bottom of a lake”) and was carefully repaired. One of the two (the one with the broken display) eventually made it to me.

    If you want to learn more about hardware glitching, the ChipWhisperer Wiki is a great place to start. If you get a ChipWhisperer Lite hardware, you can follow the tutorials there to learn more. Our work was all done on a ChipWhisperer Lite along with some molecule mods that enables features such as eMMC packet triggering, multiple glitch units, edge triggering with extra GPIO inputs, extra clock divider options, and more. You can also find some Vita-specific scripts for the ChipWhisperer for glitching and for DFA. Finally, if you want to learn more about the Vita, the HENkaku wiki is the place to go.
    The DEM prototype glitching summarized in this article was done live on Twitch over exactly two weeks. If you want to see the whole process from inception to completion, they are all recorded in vods. Be warned though, more time was wasted going down wrong paths and making mistakes than actual progress–but that is how real hacking works. Thanks to everyone who tuned in and provided help and moral support, and to xyz for providing the exploit to trigger the reset handshake.

    The PlayStation Vita has a pretty good amount of homebrew and even some original homebrew games that are exclusive to the system created by numerous Indie developers.
    Among these, we find Pingo by Grzybojad which is a puzzle game with the goal of painting a whole map with the least amount of steps as possible. While this may sound easy, it can get pretty challenging since many levels are designed in a clever ways that force you to think about your next move. Other than being a fun way to pass some time, it also has a high degree of polish and great artwork which was done by Jumbocube.
    Pingo 2.0 comes with a whole new world and even more polish

    Now, it has been updated to version 2.0 and this brings along:

    • A new world that include 30 levels. These levels come with 3 new gameplay mechanics and a different colour scheme
    • Support for custom levels which can be created by robDev’s pingo-edit
    • Navigation with the touchscreen which kinda gives it Cut The Rope-esque vibes in the menus
    • The Options menu now works;
      • This menu can be used to set the volume, enable/disable touch controls and view your stats

    • Improved visuals, 4 new music tracks, an easter egg and a credits scene after you beat all the levels

    To get Pingo 2.0 on your Vita (which you definitely should do), simply open VHBB and install it since it’s available on VitaDB. Alternatively, you can grab the VPK from this link (report bugs in the Issues tab) and install it via VitaShell. You may also donate to him via Patreon. Unfortunately, there’s no Android/iOS port since I personally think that it would make a great mobile game especially with the updated visuals in this version!

    Contrary to the PSVita, the 3DS’ homebrew haydays have been over for a pretty long time but noteworthy releases still drop from time to time. One of these releases was Twilight Menu++ 9.0.0 some days ago which came with Widescreen support (lets you play DS games in Widescreen (16:10) thus filling up the 3DS’ upper screen).
    Unfortunately, this feature wasn’t useable since TWL Patcher was required and that wasn’t out then. That finally changed on Sunday as Sono released his patcher which can enable Widescreen mode by following a short tutorial on a 64-Bit Windows PC. You can grab TWLPatcher from this link and follow the instructions found here to use it on your console!
    Many DS games are a lot of fun but playing them in Widescreen on your 3DS makes them even better!

    On the other hand, TWiLight Menu++ received an update to version 9.0.4 yesterday and this brings along:

    • Support for 202 Widescreen Mode games
      • Combined with version 9.0.3, titles like Final Fantasy IV, Pokemon Platinum and Assassin’s Creed II – Discovery are now supported

    • Sanity checks relating to Widescreen mode have been added which make sure that a working copy of ‘TwlBg.cxi’ is present in “sd:/luma/sysmodule” and whether it’s backed up
    • Some small bug fixes having to do with file copying

    To grab TWiLight Menu++ 9.0.4 and enjoy DS games in Widescreen, check out this link to grab and install it. Do note that updating via TWiLight Updater doesn’t work as of right now so you must update your binaries manually!

As of now it can be still considered a prototype. It’s a difficult platform game demanding precise wall jumps and air dashes. If your reflexes are limited, this might be not a game for you.
    All of you interested to develop for the GBA, the source code is available for free as well.

    • The classic/mini throwback video game console craze continues, with Konami joining the fray, with their soon to be released TurboGrafx-16 Mini. After claiming that the TG-16 Mini would include 50 classic titles from both the Japanese PC Engine and western TurboGrafx-16 libraries, Konami surprised fans by further revealing another seven bonus games, bringing the total count to 57. We also have confirmation that M2, known for their work on recent ports of classic Sega Genesis games, is on board with the project, meaning the games will likely be emulated in a reliable manner.     Microgaming is one of the oldest names in online gaming, having formed in 1994 and brought out its first slots in 1998 as you can learn in https://www.microgaming.co.uk/about-us.

    It hard to find the oldest Microgaming games at casinos these days, but we’re always happy to reminisce here at http://www.dcemu.co.uk/content/. Let’s look back at five of the best Microgaming slots from the late ‘90s and early 2000s.

    Pharaoh’s Fortune Slot, 1998

    Pharaoh’s Fortune was the original Microgaming online slot brought out way back in January 1998. This game appears basic when viewed through a modern lense, but it was incredibly advanced for its time. Based on the pharaohs of ancient Egypt, Pharaoh’s Fortune slot was a 3-reel game with one payline running horizontally across the reels. What it lacked in bonus features and Wild symbols (there weren’t any!) it made up for with cool ‘90s graphics and sounds.

    Jurassic Jackpot Slot, 1999

    Microgaming has been producing Jurassic Park-themed slots for more than 20 years, starting with the original Jurassic Jackpot slot in 1999. The original Jurassic Park film was released in 1993 and Microgaming capitalised on its popularity with this very basic 3-reel, 1-payline slot game. As you can see, all the early games had fewer reels and paylines than today, but the stories behind them were still just as good!

    Gladiators Gold, 1999

    Another popular film that came out around the same time as the first online slots was Gladiator, released in 2000. Microgaming must have known about the film because it beat Hollywood to the punch and released Gladiators Gold in August 1999. This slot was an advancement on earlier slots, with 3 reels and a whopping 3 paylines! It also signalled the moment when casino games started looking more advanced in terms of graphics and sound. Bonus features were still a fair way off, but Gladiators Gold was perfect for any gamer just wanting to have some fun and perhaps win some prizes at the same time.

    Fruit Fiesta, 2000

    The year 2000 marked the start of a new century and with it many new developments from the likes of Microgaming and other online casino manufacturers. We know all about the craze of the Starburst online slot and Candy Crush mobile games, but what about the early versions? In July 2000, Microgaming took a big leap with the release of Fruit Fiesta, a 5-reel, 15-payline online slot based on those vintage fruits machines you used to find at online casinos and pubs.     Thunderstruck, 2003

    It's time for another Cemu update! Version 1.15.11 has just been publicly released which improves the handling of updates & DLC in several ways (better content type detection, automatic backup & restore in case of a failed install and other under the hood enhancements), shader changes in preparation of the upcoming Vulkan renderer (if you are a developer, you may want to check those in better detail by reading the changelog, otherwise your shaders may only be compatible with the OpenGL backend in the future), more functions for the built-in debugger and your usual dose of bug fixes.

    If you are a graphic pack developer, be aware of these changes:
    - All shaders are now generated with a Vulkan and OpenGL compatible header using #ifdef / #endif preprocessor directives
    - gl_Position should always be set via the new SET_POSITION() macro
    - Shaders used in combination with point primitives always have to write gl_PointSize
    - Point shaders that get their point size from renderstate have a new uniform variable (uf_pointSize)
    - Primitive points will modify the vertex shader base hash (+0x71)
    Existing custom shaders remain compatible with the OpenGL backend, except for vertex/geometry shaders used in combination with GL_POINTS which need to be updated

    New Super Mario Bro. U Deluxe and FIFA 19 are the best-selling physical games in Europe so far this year, according to GfK Entertainment.
    That's based on a new cross-platform report from the official charts and market research data supplier.
    FIFA 19 performed better in the Benelux countries of Denmark, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden and the UK, while Mario proved more popular in Austria, France, Germany, and Switzerland.
    Grand Theft Auto V continues to be a dominant force in the market six years after release, ranking in the top three in five countries.

    The latest EMEAA Charts are in, and there's little change among the ten best-selling games.
    The only new entry this week is EA's Madden 20, which has to settle for No.10 as various evergreen sellers dominate the combined physical and digital charts.
    As an indication of how much downloads now drive AAA games, the annual sports outing debuted at No.5 in the digital rankings but as low as No.26 at retail.
    It will come as absolutely no surprise that Grand Theft Auto is No.1 in both the combined and digital charts, and No.4 in the physical charts.
    PlayStation exclusive Marvel's Spider-Man is No.2 in both combined and digital, although as low as No.29 in the retail rankings -- again, indicating the downloads were the biggest driver for this title.
    Last week's big new release Fire Emblem: Three Houses continues to hold its own at No.3 in the combined physical and digital charts -- although this is purely based on retail sales, since Nintendo's digital data is unavailable.
    The game was top of the physical charts, and actually top of the combined rankings in terms of value rather than units sold.
