UK sales of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were almost neck-and-neck over Black Friday week, retailers report.

139k PS4 consoles were sold in the UK between 22nd and 28th November, UK shops told MCV.
134k Xbox Ones were sold over the same timeframe - a narrow loss for Microsoft's machine.
Altogether, 300k consoles were shifted in total - a figure which leaves around 42k spare for Wii U, handhelds and older consoles.
Black Friday shows no signs of going anywhere - news which may or may not fill you with happiness, depending on how much the whole thing appeals.
More consoles were sold over the Black Friday weekend this year than over the same seven days in 2014.
Game sales soared by 60 per cent week on week, while retailers raked in 32 per cent more money.

The numbers are finally in for what appears to have been a blockbuster Black Friday.
86 per cent of all consoles sold last week were PlayStation 4 and Xbox Ones, an increase the 75 per cent that were sold during the same period last year. Software for those platforms made up 74 per cent of all units sold – last Black Friday PS4 and Xbox One games only made up 46 per cent.
The week ending November 28th is only one of nine weeks so far where the newer harder saw software unit share of over 70 per cent.
In addition, software revenue increased 32 per cent over last week meaning that £56m was generated by game sales. Meanwhile 1,778,301 units were sold during the week.
It’s not all good news, however. Software unit sales were down nine per cent year-on-year, while revenue took a dip of 10 per cent.
FIFA is No.1 after a six-week break from the top spot with sales shooting up 254 per cent week-over-week thanks to a number of hard and software bundles. This also helped Call of Duty: Black Ops III sales rise 47 per cent. Activision’s shooter remains steady at No.2.
Last week’s No.1 – Star Wars Battlefront – falls to third place, though sales only took a 52 per cent dip which is rather healthy. Bethesda’s Fallout 4 falls to fourth place as sales s climb eight per cent.
In fifth place is Sony’s Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection. That title was 24 per cent last week, but it shoots up 19 places to fifth place as sales shoot up 999 per cent thanks to a PlayStation 4 hardware bundle. Meanwhile Grand Theft Auto V rises six places with sales taking a 385 per cent hike.
Hardware bundles helped a number of games see massive sales increases. Halo 5 sales shot up 195 per cent, while Forza 6 sales spiked ten 381 per cent as it rises ten places. Meanwhile, Disney Infinity 3 increases 281 per cent week-on-week and LEGO Marvel Super Heroes unit sales increases 541 per cent.

    2. Playstation Vita News

The ignominious fall of the PlayStation TV has seen Sony’s streaming microconsole slashed to an all-time low in the US.
American retailer Best Buy is currently offering the console for just $19.99, which represents a 75 per cent saving over its $80 RRP. Note that the SKU in question doesn’t include a bundled controller of any sort and only has 1GB of integrated memory.
The reveal of the PlayStation Vita TV, as it was called at the time, was greeted with great excitement back in September 2013. The machine even sold out on Amazon Japan when it was made available for pre-order.
However, a little over a year later it became clear that things weren’t panning out well for the device, with $20 shaved off both SKUs in the US. A month later some retailers were even giving the machine away with some PS4 console purchases.
In March of this year Sony slashed its UK price from £84.99 all the way down to £44.99 but again, the console soon found itself being handed out for nothing with some PS4s.
In June of this year Sony Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida admitted the device “didn’t capture the consumers’ imagination”.

Last week there was a great deal for the PlayStation 4, bundling remastered versions of God of War 3, The Last of Us, and the Uncharted games with a new console. The whole thing was going for less than £300, too. Very much a good deal. Though, one of the criticisms I had of it was, while all good games, every game bundled with the machine was originally released for the last generation.
This Xbox One deal, while providing fewer games, does at least show what this generation is capable of, packaging an Xbox One with Black Ops 3 and Halo 5. All for £309.

Star Wars Battlefront debuts at the top spot in the UK charts and has the fourth biggest week of any game this year.
The online-only shooter has the biggest launch for a Star Wars game, selling more than 117 per cent more units in its first week than previous record holder, 2008's Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

The title also sold considerably more on PlayStation 4 than it did Xbox. 59 per cent of Week One sales were for the PS4; 39 per cent on Xbox One while two per cent were on PC.
