Blockbuster shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops III has shot to number one in the Japanese retail charts, fighting off a number of home-grown titles.
The latest in Activision’s franchise (which is published by Sony on PlayStation in Japan) sold nearly 150,000 units on PS4, with a further 25,000 on PS3 – the latter version took third position in the software rankings, according to Famitsu.
Meanwhile, Disney Magical World 2, a sequel to the original 3DS life simulation game, swiped the second spot. It shifted almost 70,000 copies in its debut week.
The only other new entries were local efforts To-Love-Ru Darkness: True Princess for PlayStation Vita and Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force for PS4. The games sold around 20,000 and 15,000 copies to rest at fifth and sixth place, respectively.
The previous week’s best-selling game, God Eater Resurrection on Vita, fell to fourth position as sales dropped by around 95,000 in its second week. The PS4 version of the title vanished from the Top Ten altogether, despite taking the number two spot previously.
While Sony and Bandai Namco ruled the very top of the charts for another week, Nintendo once again held onto the bottom of the Top Ten. The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes, Super Mario Maker and Splatoon filled out numbers eight, nine and 10, respectively.
Sales of both Mario Maker and Splatoon rose week-on-week, while the Zelda spin-off saw sales drop by about 8,000 units, dropping from third place.
Over in the hardware battle, PS4 reigned supreme for another week at the top of the rankings. It's handheld sibling, the Vita, fell back down the charts as Nintendo's New 3DS XL climbed back to second place.

Every year in Las Vegas held an awards ceremony in the field of online gambling, which is called Global Gaming Awards. This year was no exception. The ceremony was held in late September at the Venetian Palazzo.

The highlight of the evening was the victory of Microgaming in two categories. The company specializes in developing games for the best online casinos and is one of the largest on the market. Developers of the Microgaming company won the main prize in the nomination "Best innovative design" for the game VR Roulette, and "Best Game of the Year" for the creation of online slots Jurassic Park.
CEO of Microgaming - Roger Raatgever, commented victory:
"We have created a truly incredible game that deserved to win. Jurassic Park - is a revolutionary product for computers and mobile gadgets, and we are incredibly proud of the victory. VR Roulette is also a great game and we promise that we will not stop on our achievements.
The company NetEnt, which develops online games, has been named "Supplier of the Year", and walked in the category of such "giants" as Playtech and Amaya.
Not without its surprises. The prize for "Best affiliate program" has received little-known Canadian company "Income Access", although the favorites in this case were 888, Unibet and Paddy Power.

The latest entry in Activision’s Call of Duty series goes straight to the top of the UK boxed games charts.
91 per cent of Week One sales were for the newer PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, while a measly nine per cent of units sold were for the the PS3 and 360.
This is the seventh biggest Call of Duty title in terms of revenue. This is likely the result of Black Ops III only launching on Friday – the first time in six years. Other Call of Duty titles launched on Tuesday, therefore we can’t really compare Black Ops III sales to that of last year’s Advanced Warfare.
Meanwhile, FIFA 16 rises on place to No.2. EA’s Need for Speed debuts in third place, too.
Sales of Halo 5: Guardians dropped 78 per cent last week as the sci-fi shooter falls from the top spot to No.4. Assassin’s Creed drops three places to No.5 as sales decline 55 per cent.
And further down the charts, a retailer promotion causes sales of Mario Kart 7 to shoot up 898 per cent to No.14.
Below is the software Top Ten for the week ending November 7th:
    1. Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Activision Blizzard
    2. FIFA 16, EA
    3. Need for Speed, EA

Pre-orders for Fallout 4 were able to hold off the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops III on this week's Steam top ten sellers chart.
Grand Theft Auto V finished behind in third, coming off of its controversial Halloween promotion, while Counter-Strike: Global Offensive rounded out the top five – Valve's RSS feed for the weekly chart only listed nine titles for the period, inexplicably leaving out whatever product finished in fourth.
Fallout 4 Season Pass orders were also selling well enough for the content to reach sixth. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth returned to the list in tenth, thanks to the release of new DLC.
    Here's the full list:

    1. Fallout 4
    2. Call of Duty: Black Ops III
    3. Grand Theft Auto V
    4. Unknown
    5. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
    6. Fallout 4 Season Pass
    7. Football Manager 2016
    8. Ark: Survival Evolved
    9. Anno 2205

Grand Theft Auto V has retaken the top spot on Steam’s weekly best-sellers chart, thanks to a feature discount in the distributor’s Halloween Sale.

Football Manager 2016 makes its chart debut in fourth, while Valve’s own consummate chart-topper Counter-Strike: Global Offensive rounds out the top five.

In a contrast to the UK’s Halo-ruled rankings, Japan’s retail charts were last week dominated by home-grown titles from the territory.
The only Western title to make the Top Ten was the debut of sports game NBA 2K16, which achieved seventh place, according to the latest data from Famitsu.
Both first and second position were claimed by the Vita and PS4 versions of Bandai Namco’s God Eater Resurrection, respectively, which managed combined sales of over 140,000.
The game's Vita version once again proved the ongoing popularity of Sony's handheld system in Japan, outselling its home console sbling by more than four times.
The only other new entry was Nippon Ichi’s Yomawari, which claimed fourth, below 3DS Zelda spin-off Tri Force Heroes.
God Eater’s preference for PlayStation helped PS4 and Vita to swipe the top two positions in the hardware chart, respectively.
While Halo was absent from the software Top Ten following its release in Japan on October 29th (three days before the data was collated), its launch may have helped Xbox One sales in the region, as the console rose from its traditional tenth place to sit above the 3DS XL in ninth.

Here is the Top Ten software chart for the week ending November 1st:

    1. God Eater Resurrection (Bandai Namco) Vita – 114,994 (New)
    2. God Eater Resurrection (Bandai Namco) PS4 – 28,487 (New)
    3. The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes (Nintendo) 3DS – 21,292
    4. Yomawari (Nippon Ichi) Vita – 21,196 (New)
    5. Super Mario Maker (Nintendo) Wii U – 12,823
    6. Yo-Kai Watch Busters: Akaneko-dan/Shiroinu-tai (Level 5) 3DS – 12,806
    7. NBA 2K16 (2K Games) PS4 – 8,499 (New)
    8. Splatoon (Nintendo) Wii U – 8,113
    9. Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer (Nintendo) 3DS – 6,869
    10. Katachi Shinhakken! Picross 3D 2 (Nintendo) 3DS – 5,971

When a mysterious "Nintendo PlayStation" prototype with both an SNES cartridge slot and a CD drive made the rounds back in July, many remained skeptical. Not even Sony PlayStation's head of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, wanted to confirm its authenticity. Or perhaps he just didn't want to bring up the bad blood between his company and Nintendo over this failed collaboration.

Back in 1988, Sony inked a deal with the legendary gaming giant to add its then new CD-ROM technology to the upcoming SNES console. But when it came to money, they couldn't reach an agreement: Sony allegedly wanted to keep all the money from CD licenses and then figure out royalties with Nintendo later. As you'd imagine, Nintendo didn't take to this arrangement too kindly. Eventually, just a day after Sony unveiled this "Play Station" at the Chicago CES in 1991, Nintendo retaliated with a surprise move by publiclybreaking up with Sony in favor of Philips. Well, that partnership didn't work out for Nintendo, either. But this infamous rupture did lead to the birth of Sony's very own PlayStation, which went on to become one of the company's most profitable assets today.

The "Nintendo PlayStation" is now the stuff of gaming legend, with reportedly only about 200 prototypes ever produced. But, as luck would have it, one of those systems fell into the hands of a father and son: Terry and Dan Diebold. We met up with the Diebolds in Hong Kong, where they were in town for a retro gaming expo, to hear how it ended up in their possession. Most importantly, we got to turn the "Nintendo PlayStation" on, play a couple of SNES games on it, and even take it apart to see if we could fix the dormant CD drive.
